Fiat Celebrates 550,000th Toro Pickup Produced in Brazil
Fiat Toro Achieves 40,000 Units Sold in 2024, Strengthening Market Position...
Fiat has reached a significant milestone by producing the 550,000th unit of its popular Fiat Toro Sport Utility Pickup (SUP) at the Polo Automotivo de Goiana plant in Pernambuco, Brazil. This accomplishment underscores Toro’s enduring appeal, which has made it a dominant force in Brazil’s compact pickup market since its debut in 2016.
The Fiat Toro was a game-changer for the Brazilian market, creating the SUP category. The idea was to blend the ruggedness and utility of a pickup with the comfort and features of an SUV, making it a unique offering. With its versatile design, the Toro has consistently attracted buyers looking for a vehicle that can tackle tough jobs while offering a smooth and stylish ride.
Strong Sales Performance in 2024 –
This year has been particularly successful for the Fiat Toro, with approximately 40,000 units sold from January to September. The Toro remains one of Brazil’s best-selling pickup trucks, second only to the Fiat Strada. The model’s popularity is attributed to its distinctive combination of durability, versatility, and modern styling—qualities that resonate with Brazilian consumers.
A Balance Between Utility and Comfort –
One of the main reasons for the Toro’s success is its ability to balance the functionality of a pickup with the refinement of an SUV. On the utility side, the Toro is built to handle demanding loads, with a bed offering up to 937 liters (33 cubic feet) of cargo space. Depending on the version, the Toro can carry up to 750 kg (1,653 lbs) in its flex-fuel models and up to 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) in its diesel variants. Additionally, it has a towing capacity of 400 kg (882 lbs), making it a practical choice for work or leisure.
The Toro’s bed features a convenient split-tailgate design, which enhances ease of use and makes loading and unloading more ergonomic and efficient. Its Multilink rear suspension adds to the vehicle’s comfort, providing a smoother ride, even when carrying heavier loads—a standout feature in its segment.
SUV-Like Sophistication –
On the SUV side, the Fiat Toro offers a spacious and well-appointed interior designed to deliver a premium experience. It has advanced technology, including a state-of-the-art multimedia center and the Connect////Me platform for enhanced connectivity. The full LED and daytime running lights (DRLs) add a modern touch to the exterior design, while available 18-inch wheels and leather seats with electric adjustments enhance the vehicle’s luxurious appeal.
Engine Options for Different Needs –
The Fiat Toro has two engine options, catering to different driving preferences. The Turbo 270 Flex (turbocharged 1.3-liter ‘FireFly’ inline-four-cylinder) engine produces 185 horsepower (136 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, providing a responsive drive. For those seeking more power and off-road capability, the Toro also offers a 2.0-liter 16V Multijet II four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, generating 170 horsepower (127 kW) and 357 Nm (263 lb-ft) of torque. This diesel engine has a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 capability, making it ideal for tackling more challenging terrains.
A Legacy of Innovation and Versatility –
Since its launch, the Fiat Toro has received numerous awards, reflecting its impact on the Brazilian market and its role in reshaping the compact pickup segment. Its blend of strength, style, and advanced features sets it apart from the competition, helping it remain a preferred choice for urban and rural drivers.
