The FIAT brand comes into the 2018 São Paulo International Motor Show in São Paulo, Brazil with a completely renewed portfolio. The FIAT brand is trying to recapture the market and show off its latest concept vehicle, which helps the brand show the public where they see the design of the FIAT brand is going in the near future.
Meet the Fiat Fastback Concept. Designed by Fiat Design’s Latin America design office, it translates the four new design principles that the design team is looking to inspire its future vehicles. Those principals are human, bold, contemporary, flexible (contextual), and able to generate experiences without interruptions seamlessly.
Completely designed in the Design Center LATAM, located at the Fiat Automotive Polo in Betim (MG), the pure fastback crossover has an Italian soul, with bold lines that convey sportiness and elegance, with authenticity. With four doors, the model is a hybrid between UV, sedan, and coupe, with proportions that capture, with balance, the beauty of the forms, not forgetting the functionality.
Following the trend of the latest releases, the concept further highlights the Wrap Around effect, with a line that surrounds the entire model without interruptions, giving the feeling of continuity in all details, as well as sculptural surfaces and horizontality.
The styling reminds us of the popular Fiat Toro pickup, with its aggressive “in your face” styling. While the profile looks more like a shooting brake, with its coupe-like rear-end styling.
While FIAT stayed away from details and specifications about the concept. Judging by its size, we believe that the Fastback is based on the same platform architecture as the Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass, Fiat 500L, Fiat 500X, and Fiat Toro (FCA Small Wide LWB).
Even though this is more of a design study than a concept car, we have no doubt that a vehicle very similar to the Fastback Concept will be coming to production for the LATAM market very soon. The Fiat Fastback is definitely one of the stars of the São Paulo International Motor Show.
