Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) released its official sales numbers for the first quarter of 2020 yesterday, for both the Canadian and Mexican markets. Despite the negative economic impact of the COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) in March, both markets produced good numbers for the months of January and February. So let’s take a quick look at the numbers behind each brand in both markets…
Canada:
FCA Canada posted sales of 44,140 vehicles during the first quarter of 2020, which was a decline of 10,196 units over the same time last year. Boasting success for the company in the Canadian market was the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty pickup lineup, which was up 50% with 3,282 units sold. Overall, Ram Truck sales were flat year over year with 19,179 units sold during the quarter. Additionally, the soon to be discontinued Dodge Grand Caravan was up 2% over its 2019 numbers with 8,408 units sold.
“We want to thank the dealers who have been able to remain open during these difficult times in order to ensure that all Canadians’ transportation needs are met, especially our nation’s first responders and health professionals,” said FCA Canada President and CEO Dave Buckingham.
As we mentioned yesterday, FCA Canada is offering no payment for 120 days on all 2019 and 2020 models, across all brands with its “Drive Forward” initiative which starts this month. FCA Canada is continuing to work with its various financing providers, many of which are offering financial relief to consumers who may need it. The Drive Forward initiative provides consumers with incentives, as well as online tools to improve their retail experience.
