Dodge Introduces T/A 392 Widebody For 2021 Model Year:
Adds More Road Course Handling For Heritage Model...
The Dodge brand announced earlier today, that it would be expanding its Widebody Package option for the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack to include two popular heritage models for the 2021 model year. The models include the R/T Scat Pack Shaker and the T/A 392 buzz models. The 2021 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 Widebody builts on the history of the legendary 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A which is considered one of the most sought-after muscle cars of all time.
Not only are both cars powered by the naturally aspirated 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 delivering 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, but for those who are a fan of banging gears a 6-speed TR-6060 Tremec manual transmission is standard. Of course, there is an optional 8-speed 8HP70 Torque-Flite automatic transmission as well. If your Challenger is equipped with the optional automatic transmission, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters are also added.
Initially built for the Sports Car Club of America’s (SCCA) Trans-Am racing series in 1970 with only 2,399 ever built, the Challenger T/A was Dodge’s road racing version of the iconic 1970 Dodge Challenger. The Widebody Package adds even more canyon-carving ability to the large Dodge Challenger T/A 392, by adding 3.5-inches (8.8-centimeters) to the width of the car, sticky 305/35ZR20 Pirelli performance tires wrapped on a set of 20-inch x 11-inch aluminum wheels, as well as an SRT performance-tuned chassis with SRT high-performance adaptive suspension. The cars will also be equipped with SRT Performance Pages with drive modes, as well as a standard Line-Lock feature which engages the front brakes to hold the Challenger stationary, but leaves the rear wheels free for a burnout to heat up and clean the rear tires.
The 2021 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 Widebody includes the following equipment over the standard R/T Scat Pack Widebody model…
- 392 Fender Decal
- Black Fuel-Filler Door
- Gloss Black Grille
- Satin Black Painted Hood
- Functional Hood Scoop
- Gloss Black Instrument Cluster Trim Rings
- Illuminated Air-Catcher® Headlamps
- Cold Air Intake System by Mopar®
- Satin Black Rear Spoiler
- Satin Black Wrapped Roof and Decklid
- T/A Bodyside Graphic
- T/A Spoiler Decal
- White Face Instrument Cluster
Buyers who opt for the Widebody Package will get the same Widebody performance as the R/T Scat Pack Widebody, which includes improvement of close to 2-seconds per lap or 12 car lengths compared with the non-Widebody R/T Scat Pack. In a quarter-mile comparison, the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody gains .2-seconds, running a 12.1-second ET at 112 mph (180 km/h).
The Challenger T/A 392 Widebody has a starting U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $49,090 (all prices exclude $1,495 destination charge). For Canadians, the MSRP is $67,495 (all prices exclude $1,895 destination charge).
