When Stellantis flops (imminent), who picks up Chrysler this time?

Hahahahahah ! Another fail brand, Jaguar ! Until STLA wakes up to the fact that Chrysler NA has to set aside with its own American CEO and budget, because no European can fix and restore that money machine !

Hmmmm ? Car czar, any American ones ? Look at FORD, one mistake after another with recalls and more recalls, engine failures, and more. Lincoln sales falling off a cliff as the word is out about engine failures due to poor design. GM lurching around but making $$, for now, but engine failures plaguing them as well. Meanwhile, the Asian brands scoop up more market share as the D2 stumble.
The last time there was dire need for a new American CEO Bill Ford had to court Alan Mulally from Boeing back in 2006. I am unaware of anyone that could hit the ground running like he did, but they're out there I am sure. Has to be a car person, has to know manufacturing, has to know sales, has to know dealer relations, has to know generational car culture for the time, has to know Mopar history (or learn fast), has to know how to navigate the current climate from EV back to gas and hybrids, and has to know how to get the marketing back on track which has been a disaster since the french took over - and balance it all.

Its a new breed cat.

With Nissan’s current news, how about FCA to split from the French and merge with Nissan?

Nissan has a better C- and lower platforms and engines but they have to get rid of the CVT

YES ! I agree 100%, but this will never happen under European ownership due to cultural differences ! However, with the present depressed car market which is deteriorating weekly many EV and established auto manufactures will vanish, as the rest are in trouble. Even VW and Nissan are in trouble, as the coming recession bites harder, in spite of the rosey blathering about how strong the world economies are. Of course STLA with all its hubris will ignore all the warnings until it's too late ! Meanwhile, China the world's manufacturing power house will continue its rampage of destroying all competition unless tariffs are imminently erected !

Chrysler, Dodge, Dodge truck and Jeep do not need any partners and never did. They need to be set free again on their own - let Trump negotiate them out of being blocked from Asia and Europe.

Iacocca on this decades ago...

CDJR does need someone for the C-platform and smaller and the small engines. These segments are too hard and saturated to develop a product by yourself.

Truer words never spoken !

The current environment is not like 1998.
You can’t operate solo.

You mean like all the other auto manufactures who have minority partners ? European ownership has been a disaster from day one, starting with Daimler.

Oh yes they can. Lift the guise of liberal red tape regulation and let them rip. Dodge, Dodge truck, Jeep and Chrysler can be very prosperous in just USA and Canada - a market of 400 million. Terrible economy today, but it'll be back very soon - probably like you've never seen in your lifetime, just a hunch. Chrysler never needed a Euro partner ever

It’s not only the regulations. It’s also the Koreans whom became major players since the start of the millennium.
America’s Big 3 are good when it comes to large cars, full size SUVs and pickups.
But the Japanese and Koreans are dominating every other segment, which are more than 60% of the market.
And if you think building a business structure and plan for only the domestic market and 400M citizens, is getting you past 5-years of continuous profit, then you will be in a surprise.

This was the argument back in 2009 "Chrysler needs a small car partner". Fast forward 3 years and they're gushing profits from the US and dumping them into Alfa that went nowhere instead of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep where they should have been going. Small cars were never a factor. Daimler did it, Fiat did it and the current band is doing it. They dont need a partner, IF they desire one they can partner with one to platform share a FWD car and 4cyl - or whatever they need, they dont need to give them 51% of the company and all leadership roles.
