Do you guys remember these images when they where about to announce the Grand Wagoneer? I was sure then they were sketches of what would replace the KL. As a smaller sportier sibling something that looked like this would fit perfectly.

FCA is currently working on the Cherokee (KL) replacement... codenamed KM! Expect it to launch in 2023 as a 2024.
😭😭😭 Say it ain't so--2 years?? At least they are taking their time to get it out, so I'm sure it'll be phenomenal this time around. Looking at the GCL's interior quality, I'm thinking it's worth the wait.
 
Its 2022 right now. Although it a bit old that the the L is 2021.... I suppose the 2 row will be 2022.
 
Basically three Giorgio projects are waiting green light from Carlos Tavares. Those are Jeep Cherokee, Alfa E-segment SUV (Gavia?), Alfa D or E-segment liftback so next gen Giulia or maybe Alfetta.

Let's say that Maserati Giorgio projects are safe and sound. This means that by the the end of first half of this decade we could have double digit number of Giorgio based cars on sale. Nice. :cool:
 
The power that FCA gets out of the 2 liter GME turbo four cylinder is amazing. Even when it's tuned for Jeep duty, the engine is impressive. I don't know why they dropped the mild hybrid four cylinder combo in the North American Wranglers.

Even if a rear drive based Cherokee replacement was four cylinder only model, it will be potent both on and off road. I suspect going forward four cylinder Jeep models in North America will offer three tiers of electrification for the smaller models; start/stop, mild hybrid and PHEV.

all new vehicles that run the engine North and south that is Unibody should have is roots in the Giorgio moving forward.
 
I think they should return with a more distinctive face for the model. For all the whining from purest it sold better and set it apart in Jeep lineup. Keep the units together for cost but make sure it has a aggressive look not wash into the lineup as tweener
 
Hmh... Presumably it would start if with 2.0 turbo MHEV or maybe with upcoming 1.5 turbo MHEV if weight is not too high, lower that the current Cherokee.

3.6 is near the end of its path.

I'd rather not have a turbo (with the premium fuel and additional maintenance requirements) in my next vehicle, so that's why I said the 3.6 PHEV that they already have in use.

Regardless, I'm interested in what the KM will be! I'm hoping it goes RWD and gets boxier for better rear interior space, and that they stop limiting features on the Trailhawk trim.
 
Turbo doesn't necessarily mean that Premium fuel is in the game. FCA has shown that turbo can be rated with Regular fuel. I'm talking about 1.3 turbo with MultiAir III technology. So they can do it. They have technology to do it and it works.

For RWD Cherokee. The only D-segment model which I can think of and which comes from an off-road brand is a Range Rover Velar.
 
Good luck with that in the future. Forced induction will be standard on ICE across the board for passenger vehicles. Trucks may hold out.

Yes. I think because the extended model years like the 2019 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Jeep Cherokee hurts their value.
 
I think the Limited will no longer have black plastic cladding.

This standard equipment for the Limited:
WHEEL FLARES - MOLD-IN-COLOR (MMJ)
MOLD-IN-COLOR LOWER FRONT FASCIA (MLX)
MOLD-IN-COLOR LOWER REAR FASCIA (MLK)
This was incorrect. I've seen photos now of the Laredo, Altitude, and Limited. They share a fascia with the Summit, not the Overland, but all have black plastic cladding around the bottom. Even the Altitude, despite having painted trim on the WK2.

I'm disappointed. It looks very cheap and and rental-esque with black plastic.
 
This common in the first couple years of a new model launch. One less thing to color match or worry about adhesion. It will work its way out of the higher trims.

@Ryan is right. The Overland is the only model to feature its own unique front fascia and the only one to come with standard front two hooks.

I personally think this black plastic cladding would only look good on the TrailHawk
