Everything You Need To Know About The 2026 Jeep® Cherokee

New-Look, Gutsy Hybrid Adventure SUV

After a brief pause, the Jeep® Cherokee nameplate returns for 2026 with a complete redesign—inside, outside, and under the hood. Known for blending everyday practicality with authentic off-road capability, the Cherokee (KM) now rides into a new era as a fuel-efficient hybrid SUV built to tackle both highways and trails.

If Mopar can only make old uncompetitive powertrains to make their incumbent customers happy. They might as well pack it in. Since they never solved all the issue on any of the V engine. Legit.

Shut it down. Cuz slow, thirsty, dirty, heavy, fragile, and expensive is not sustainable.
Really, the new engines are under the same scrutiny that the rest of their new vehicles are under.

This is the direct result of the carlos era slash fest. I feel like we're back to the dumbler days, only instead of cheap looking interiors, we have cheap parts everywhere that aren't as obvious, but will strand you somewhere because someone didnt' want to pay $0.05 more for the better part.

To be clear, I wouldn't buy a new stallantis vehicle right now even if it had a Hemi or Pentastar because I don't know what else they've cheapened to make their precious margin. If we could rely on new vehicles being of a high quality, I would likely be willing to take the risk, but consider that their warranties are valueless to me now, I'm out.

Slow, thirsty, dirty, heavy, fragile and expensive are not sustainable. But neither is low quality, awful software and expensive.

THEY NEVER WERE ultra-reliable it just rose color glasses, and good marketing. It just anti-new bias.

They first need to make vehicles that are competitive new, then worry about the 3rd owners issues. That mean quick, smooth, and efficient.

Considering that original owners of brand new vehicles are having them brick because of OTA updates, I wouldn't feel comfortable as an original owner of a new stellantis vehicle at this point, never mind being a 3rd owner.

Not powertrain... a.

What does that have to do with powertrian... Are you here telling me OTA bricking is a exclusively a STLA problem... bahahahahaha

Even with my Toyota I removed the vehicle from the parking garage, parked it on the surface lot, and positioned it so a flatbed tow truck could easily load it. (Just in case.) Then I hit the OTA start on the touchscreen. Fortunately everything went well.

When I was working for the rental fleet, I saw a few different brands which bricked.

Yeap seen nearly every OEM have this issue. You sort of relying on iffy data transfer. Lost packet and booom. Surprised they are still trying

I was just talking about customer experience in general.

My last interaction with Stellantis warranty left a bad taste in my mouth (needing to replace taillights again with water in them), I have an outstanding recall on my Cherokee that they haven't done anything for yet in almost a year (PTU recall), and the "new and improved" engine (which I didn't get) that was offered for 2019+ Cherokees (2.0T) is problematic (popping cylinder 2, requiring a significant repair bill on a vehicle with less than 75k miles), and then there's the carlos era problems that they are trying to fix in general.

All I'm saying is if Pentastars & Hemis sell vehicles, then put Pentastars & Hemis in vehicles alongside new powertrain options. Let the people choose, and let the new options prove themselves if they are that good. Ram seems to have figured this out.

I was nervous about the radio OTAs I've received for my Cherokee in the past, but they all seemed to have gone well. Still no Off Road Pages tho.

I'm not picking on Stellantis exclusively for OTA issues. It's a great idea, as it should be more convenient for the customer, but it seems the consequences are rather dire when it doesn't work.

I realize your experience with the Pentastar (along with mine has been very good), but the warranty cost related to that engine is an issue. The 2.0T on the other hand has been fine.

Personally, I love the new Cherokee and while a new power train is always a pause, my long commute makes this thing a winner at the gas pump while still having size needed for various bags of sports equipment.
