One of the reasons for GME T6 delays, is the product slated to have it got delayed as well due to renovation, contracts and labor.
You're the first person to shed light on the reason for the delays that I've seen. Do those reasons apply to the Charger and Challenger as well?

It's like the new crate Hellephant. It is made and advertised but you still can't purchase one. I can understand some delay in a production engine but a crate engine should be an easier accomplishment.

You would think now in the days of Cad Cam, 5 axis machining, 3D printing, Matlab, and computer design and analysis things would be easier to bring to market.

You do know crate engines are not built by Dodge but contracted, right?

Can’t say anything but there is a market shift that FCA is evaluating.

Thats why I come here to here insider chat. If every manufacturer is going SUV/CUV every which way UV... that doesn't leave much space in anything else.

A Challenger CUV to compete with the reported Mustang CUV. Its a strange world.

Basically, all the upcoming product has been pushed back a year. We haven't talked about the turbo 6 much yet since it's still a ways off.

Does that mean it wont be in the upcoming products? For example the 2021 (22?) cars?

It will be in the new products when they debut. New Grand Cherokee was originally supposed to debut in for the 2020 model year now it's 2021, I would expect to see it there first. Then it will follow in most of the lineup as the new vehicles debut.

Is there any reason I can understand why products get moved back all the time??? I'm simple minded. School me.

Capacity constraints for one. There's nowhere to build the stuff which is why new plants are getting built. While some next gen product will be built in the same plants they're currently built in a lot of product is getting moved IE how the 2019 Ram 1500 DT is being built at Sterling Heights assembly instead of Warren. That means that whatever plant is coming online has to stop building product and get renovated first which isn't going to happen when the outgoing product still sells so well. Look at Dodge, the Grand Caravan is the best selling product they have, it's also the oldest and is long paid off which makes it a profit machine. Sales are still strong for even the old product so FCA wants to milk it while they evaluate market changes. Sucks for people like us that want new stuff but from a business decision it's smart on their part.

Big production shuffle. It took too much time and as a consequence some products are late.

FCA is capacity constrained in North America and with a production shuffle they've made possible no production stopgaps for their cash cows like a Ram 1500, Jeep Wrangler and in the near future Grand Cherokee.

Speaking about GME T6. It's an all new engine. Usually for all new engine minimum development time is 5. So if they've started project in 2015 or 2016 calculate it by yourself.

Thanks all.
Bottom line not enough assembly resources.
And by the time FCA rebuilds and tools up for a product the fickle mind of the consumer could change..
I drive 140 miles a day work to home. And I notice the trends are bigger higher sitting vehicles that allows a person to see over cars...it's much better..but the again all the suvs don't allow for much visability either. For me horsepower ruled and I use it to get around the slow movers in the left lane.

I know a little, I will add what I know to what I read here and other places...

Summing up, in no specific order

There is a Turbo inline six coming. It will have bleeding edge tech. it will almost certainly be three liters displacement. It will almost certainly be turbocharged. It will almost certainly have tech to erase turbo lag, that also adds power, and helps add efficiency especially in low RPM situations where turbos lack efficiency. It may share some parts with the Hurricane 4. It will almost certainly be offered in two or more configurations and two or more power levels. I have been assured that the only folks who will be dissatisfied with its output is our competition, and keyboard warriors who always seem to have that rusted out, clapped out, blow by having, oil burning '77 RS/SS/Z28 Camaro that runs 9's on pump gas.

The config that will be its bread and butter will be in Jeeps and Rams (and Ram Commercial) were the 5.7 simply is no longer a good choice, or won't fit, or is not the right engine for the market. This engine is supposedly going to make Jeep/Ram look much better in worldwide markets. Char-llenger will get (at least) one version. I am VERY pleased with that (no I wouldn't say anything even if I did know anything). It will replace the 5.7 in some/all applications. I don't have visibility for the future of the 5.7. If anyone claims to have that visibility just assume they are talking out their ass, unless it is a known good source (of which I am not). The long term future of the other V8's is secure. The 5.7 (in my opinion) will stick around for at least a while, until it is longer a financially viable engine (business case for it falls on its face).

I am ASSUMING that SRT has version of this new engine. I also assume that SRT has done some real world testing of this engine. Those are pretty safe assumptions. It also a darned safe assumption that SRT is getting MAD power levels out of it. What is not safe to assume is if anything SRT is working on will make production. I do know that there is something (or somethings) very cool squirrelled away in the SRT skunkworks. No, I don't have a clue what it (or they) is (are). I could guess, but I'll hold that until we all know more.

Let’s put it this way, SRT beat Ford and Chevy in V8 power. SRT certainly won’t let Ford get away with their 650hp EcoBoost.
One thing I have learned that manufacturers take horsepower wars seriously and love to be able to advertise the "highest" number.

Lets not bring Allparian nonsense here.....

Missing a rumored launch on a Fan Forum is not a DELAY!!!! GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!

Unless you have direct product plan information to share STOP IT. If you do a are posting here, hope you have your personal items in a box. Nothing is delayed because it missed rumor dates.

Look at where plant money is being spent to see where new products are coming from.... New plant in Detriot..... and then Winsor.... it really isn't that complicated. The new Ls are going to share build points with the old.

From what little I know about it, I am very pleased, on several levels for several reasons.

I so bad want to start guessing what (I know) SRT has hidden from us. I feel that would be counterproductive at this point, though. All sources of mine a mum. When normally they squeal like pigs, they won’t say squat on that subject. I simply take that as very good news.

650 out of the Tornado 6? Personally I doubt that, but you never know.

Let’s just say there is no end in sight to the horsepower wars.
