CAUGHT: 2026 Jeep® Cherokee (KM) Latitude 4×4 Hybrid

Big Changes, Bold Looks, All Hybrid...

Jeep fans, this is the one you’ve been waiting for. The 2026 Jeep® Cherokee (KM) has been spotted again, with far less camouflage, revealing both the rugged exterior and a first look inside the cabin. With Jeep’s D-segment midsize SUV finally going hybrid-only, this latest prototype gives us the clearest preview yet of what’s to come. And spoiler alert—it’s looking good.

This is shaping up nicely, I'm excited to see the finished product!!! I admit I'll be disappointed if the only engine option is the 1.6T hybrid, considering the size of this model. It's looks like the interior will mirror the Wagoneer S which is a huge plus. Curious if they will add a Trailhawk and Summit trims to this lineup in the future??

Bigger screens, ever shrinking powertrain. There's no difference between Jeep and Toyota when you're talking competing head to head with a sub 2L four banger. Guess which one Customers are going to pick? Guess which ones existing CDJRs owners are going to pick if the proposition of a better powertrain is taken away?

The brief (2010-2019) CDJR success story is, and will always be, more powertrain for the money vs other OEMs. If they deviate from that, disaster will follow (see the Hornet/Tonale, EV Charger, Wagoneer sales vs Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade/etc.).

Needs an ICE only option or they have lost me as a customer. After 3 Jeeps my wife and I were hoping for a larger Cherokee but not a hybrid nor an EV. Jeep will ostracize a large chunk of market with hybrid only imo.

I'm glad to see how it is much more utilitarian in the rear design. Looks like the side has lost some of the sculpting that WK2 and KL had, more like WL now. Looks like KM retains KL's front heavy look tho.

I'm disappointed to see the electronic door handles and the loss of real buttons inside though.

How is that interior "unmistakably Jeep"? If I saw that photo with no context I would have no clue what brand it was. I think the article is a little overly glowing for something we know very little about and covered in camouflage. Don't get me wrong, it's great to see a new Cherokee on the way. I hope they keep the name. However, while this thing is out being tested the Chrysler brand sits and sighs as it remains ignored. Hey Stellantis, give us a vehicle of this size from Chrysler and you'd have a customer right here.

The KL looks like the WL but without the KM looks but with a little of the WK2. Although the KM is inline with the WL but not close to the KL and the WK2 making it much more like the WL. Or the KL? Wait. Is it the KL or KM. No it's the WK. Wait. What were we talking about....."tho"?

Don't be so anti-hybrid. It's a decent option. By the way, they do make a larger Cherokee. It's called the Grand Cherokee.

My superb Cherokee will be eight years old in August and my wife and I have been waiting for the next generation.
FULL STOP ! If it does not offer a V-6 gas engine, we are out on this new generation. Looking elsewhere if hybrid is the only engine.
Sorry Jeep.

That's a Honda with a 7 slot grille. Ick. There isn't one single attribute that's "unmistakably Jeep" about that thing.

The worst thing about our 2018 Cherokee was the 2.0L engine. Drank gas like it had a bad habit because it didn't make enough power for the vehicle and so RPMs had to be up all the time, consumed oil like crazy, and generally was just miserable to drive. So this new one is going even smaller with the engine? Seriously?

A 1.6L turbo hybrid? In a vehicle the size of a Grand Cherokee? Yeah, that's too bad. This habit of automakers putting smaller and smaller engines in bigger and bigger vehicles has gone beyond ridiculous.

Sorry Jeep.

I'm ok with the hybrid aspect of it, but the 1.3T size is a hard sell for me.

I'd prefer a hybrid Hurricane I6 with all the plastic parts fixed IMO.

Will this model have a longitudinal engine placement? Is it front or rear drive based? Just because it is the STLA large platform, it no longer automatically means it's a rear drive.

The engine is a 1.6 liter based on the PSA PureTech. We don't yet know what modifications it will have for our market and production in Dundee, MI.

Will it have an e-axle? The biggest mystery remains the hybrid transmission. Whose technology will it use? How much power will the e-motor have?
