Racing doesn't really sell cars.. unless you're Ferrari. Renault is a mainstay of F1, and has had some excellent seasons. Does that make me want to buy a Renault? Nope. Actually, there's a huge disconnect between the statement that "Renault is a Formula 1 Constructor" and the actual product that Renault puts in showrooms. At least Alfa's tiny range can live up to the idea of being made by a company with motorsport links.
Alfa's bigger problem isn't product, but customer awareness. Like all the FIAT Group brands, it does not spend enough on day-to-day advertising - you'll get a campaign at launch, then it's total silence, like they expected someone buying a car today to remember adverts from four years ago... This is where I hope Stellantis will make big improvements.
