Big changes are coming for the Jeep® brand’s hybrid lineup for 2026. According to our sources, both the 2026 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JL) and new Gladiator (JT) 4xe models will be equipped with ZF’s state-of-the-art 8HP80PH plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 8-speed automatic transmission. This advanced gearbox promises major improvements in power, efficiency, and electric-only driving capability over the current ZF 8HP75PH transmission currently offered on the Wrangler 4xe.

Now this is big news. As I stated before, though criticism of Stellantis and Jeep is warranted, there were good things happening at the same time. The talented and hard working employees who kept the faith deserve credit and praise. This is an example of these people and their valiant efforts in a challenging environment.
I heard a hybrid three speed transmission will be used on the next generation Cherokee which will be launched as a hybrid that promises outstanding performance with cutting edge technology. Very interesting!
Let’s not let all our disappointments cloud our thinking by ignoring the good things at Jeep that will rebuild the brand shortly. Not everyone was asleep at the wheel fortunately.

I've mentioned this so many times before about how the Gen-4 8-speed is a power adder all in itself. Imagine this behind the Hurricane-6 powertrains or even a 2.0T or 2.4T Hurricane-4 under the hood of the next gen Charger or any other vehicle on the STLA Large platform and STLA Frame platform!

What a monster.... like @vbondjr1 said in the Charger with the Hurricane what a package ... Paired with i6 your besting the Hellcat.

Exciting sort of makes want to trade my JGC in when it is available.... but it paid for :D ....

My frustration with the Hurricane Six is that there haven't been any hybrid versions of it shown or announced. Part of the reason for going with an inline design was it allows more space for things like e-chargers under the hood.

A Miller Cycle Hurricane 6 would be awesome with the new hybrid transmission.

i don't think you need to Miller Cycle with this system. Just let it run. Add the assist.

Charger Base should be Hurricane 4.

Charger GT Hurricane 4 plus Hybrid assist

Charger RT Hurricane6 SO

Charger Scat Pack Hurricane6 HO

Charger SRT Hurricane6 Hybrid assist.

Hoping similar improvements are also applied to the 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe refresh. Anyone have any news on that models release date?

Now add a Dakota 4xe phev version and include an efficient engine option to compete w Maverick (yes it fine to include a performance engine option to compete w Takoma/Ranger, but having efficiency option is important to many of us that don’t need more than 4-5k tow.)
