Big changes are coming for the Jeep® brand’s hybrid lineup for 2026. According to our sources, both the 2026 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JL) and new Gladiator (JT) 4xe models will be equipped with ZF’s state-of-the-art 8HP80PH plug-in hybrid (PHEV) 8-speed automatic transmission. This advanced gearbox promises major improvements in power, efficiency, and electric-only driving capability over the current ZF 8HP75PH transmission currently offered on the Wrangler 4xe.

Now this is big news. As I stated before, though criticism of Stellantis and Jeep is warranted, there were good things happening at the same time. The talented and hard working employees who kept the faith deserve credit and praise. This is an example of these people and their valiant efforts in a challenging environment.
I heard a hybrid three speed transmission will be used on the next generation Cherokee which will be launched as a hybrid that promises outstanding performance with cutting edge technology. Very interesting!
Let’s not let all our disappointments cloud our thinking by ignoring the good things at Jeep that will rebuild the brand shortly. Not everyone was asleep at the wheel fortunately.

I've mentioned this so many times before about how the Gen-4 8-speed is a power adder all in itself. Imagine this behind the Hurricane-6 powertrains or even a 2.0T or 2.4T Hurricane-4 under the hood of the next gen Charger or any other vehicle on the STLA Large platform and STLA Frame platform!

I'm glad to here this setup survived that insane period of cost cutting. I'm hoping to hear some news about the 48V version soon.

What a monster.... like @vbondjr1 said in the Charger with the Hurricane what a package ... Paired with i6 your besting the Hellcat.

Exciting sort of makes want to trade my JGC in when it is available.... but it paid for :D ....

My frustration with the Hurricane Six is that there haven't been any hybrid versions of it shown or announced. Part of the reason for going with an inline design was it allows more space for things like e-chargers under the hood.

A Miller Cycle Hurricane 6 would be awesome with the new hybrid transmission.

i don't think you need to Miller Cycle with this system. Just let it run. Add the assist.

Charger Base should be Hurricane 4.

Charger GT Hurricane 4 plus Hybrid assist

Charger RT Hurricane6 SO

Charger Scat Pack Hurricane6 HO

Charger SRT Hurricane6 Hybrid assist.

Hoping similar improvements are also applied to the 2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe refresh. Anyone have any news on that models release date?

Now add a Dakota 4xe phev version and include an efficient engine option to compete w Maverick (yes it fine to include a performance engine option to compete w Takoma/Ranger, but having efficiency option is important to many of us that don’t need more than 4-5k tow.)

I've definitely mentioned something similar to this before. It would be an amazing idea if Dodge were to do this but with one addition to this lineup. Drop the full EV Daytona and make a Charger Six Pack Daytona to sit between the Scat Pack and the SRT. It would put the Daytona at 635hp/802tq with the Scat pack at 550hp/531tq, the R/T at 420hp/470tq and the SRT at 765hp/863tq. The crazy part about that is the Hurricane Cat-X is still coming and even if they detune it to 850hp (since in full race tune the engine is capable of having over 1,000hp), a hybrid variant of that would still have a combined hp rating of over 1,000hp and how much torque would this thing have? Dodge may have dropped the V8s but the potential for insanity is still very much present. Can anyone imagine what these things would be like tuned? AWD with the electric assist on the low end torque and then the turbos there to keep it going will make these cars absolutely insane! (if Stellantis can make them reliable). I think we're about to be in for even more Mopar power than what we were used to. This could be really interesting.

Don't the EV, it just a powertrain choice that will be very popular with CARB state Fleets. SRT Halo version that is one of quickest cars on the Planet is still valuable.

So many possibilities of what could be coming!!! Hurricanes, Hybrids, Hemis, EVs. The potential is crazy for what could be fast approaching. A few hours ago @TripleT & I talked about a lineup of the six pack & hybrid six pack cars making from 420hp all the way up to over 1,000hp with the help of hybrid transmissions. The cool thing about that is, the lineup has enough hp gaps to add in a few V8s, which could really make things interesting. Look at it like this, the Hurricane S/O makes 420hp while the Hurricane H/O makes 550hp. There's a gap of about 130hp in between those two engines. Now, let's say for instance, the Daytona Chargers move from being pure EVs that probably won't sell, to a pair of Hurricane Hybrids, that will sell alot better (Daytona R/T 635hp/802tq with a hybrid Hurricane S/O powertrain & Daytona Scat Pack 765hp/863tq with a hybrid Hurricane H/O powertrain) and let's just say a Pentastar SXT and a Hurricane Hybrid GT pushing 390hp with a decent amount of torque, The Charger lineup has enough space to have an N/A V8 on the low-mid end and a V8 on the top end. A couple of years ago, Dodge had a few upgrade packages for the 5.7L Hemi that bumped power up to about 450hp or so utilizing parts from the 6.4L Hemi. Why not take the bump the displacement up to 5.9L (360ci), add the 6.4L top end with a better cam and a redeye valvetrain so it can rev a little higher, do the plasma-arc cylinders with the new 8-speed and AWD and have a 500hp Charger Super Bee tucked between the the R/T Six Pack and the Scat Pack Six Pack? Bring the 807hp SRT Super Stock back to the mix along with a 1,100hp Hurricane SRT-6 and a 1,320hp Charger Daytona SRT Banshee 1320 tri-motor EV and the masses will be happy! Save the bulk of the EV powertrains for Jeep and Chrysler (mostly Chrysler) and the Mopar brands can and will flourish! When you think about the 5.9L V8 and what all is going on right now, it makes sense. The 78-79 Dodge Li'l Red used a 5.9L V8 to exploit emissions loopholes and the 5.9L was also the high performance V8 of the late 90's and early 2000s when everything else in Dodge's lineup was a V6.
