Fiat Unveils 2026 Toro Pickup With Modern Design And More Tech

Compact Pickup Adds Sharper Style and Versatile Powertrains

Fiat’s refreshed 2026 Toro compact pickup hasn’t even had its official debut yet, but we’re already getting a sneak peek. Fiat teased the updated model on Friday, but the truck has started arriving at select dealerships in Brazil ahead of schedule. Thanks to YouTuber “Wagner dco“, we’re getting our first real-world look at the 2026 Toro before the brand pulls the covers off its updated compact pickup.

Nice new truck. Fiat rolls out a new truck, Ram rolls out….a compact nothing.
Hopefully the next generation Jeep Compass, necessarily finding a factory home in America, can spin off compact pickup for Ram. We have been waiting too long.

I’d love to know what the anticipated volume is on this, versus what might be achieved in North America. Oh wait. We’ll get one in 29-30-31-32………..whatever.

This isn’t new fool 🙄 this is all on Previous Compass platform for like 10 years. And no people have NOT been waiting for a “Compact” Ram. It was the Mid size (Dakota) that we waiting for..

Why do I suspect we keep getting the same troll recycled? The Ford Maverick caught a lot of people's attention, many of us have seen the Rampage online and have commented positively on the threads in these forums. Supposedly, a BOF Dakota replacement is in the pipeline, but I'll believe it when I see it.

The vehicle closest to the Toro sold in our Market is the Hyundai Santa Cruz. That model struggles to sell because it is too expensive for what it is, 30K to start and over 40K well equipped.

The product cadence for Stellantis in Latin America is incredible, there are new products rolled out on a regular basis and production facilities are built to support them. Our market gets a steady diet of nothing burgers.

OK, my bad, updated. Point is, you can’t update something you need but don’t have. My thoughts turn to the logic of a group of vehicles built in a U.S. plant off the upcoming Jeep Compass on the STLA mid-size platform yielding a Ram compact truck off shoot and other vehicles like a couple of Dodges. The larger Ram has already been declared body on frame, roughly based on the Jeep Gladiator. There is a market for both and I’m not suggesting more than that it’s has, and unfortunately will, take time to sort this out.
Oh foolish me for stating the obvious. 😇

2026 Fiat Toro Gets Bold New Look, More Tech, and More Comfort

Mid-Cycle Refresh Brings Style and Substance

Last week, we saw the new Toro quietly arrive at dealers in Brazil before Stellantis had even made an official announcement. Now, the wait is over — we have all the details on the refreshed 2026 Fiat Toro, and it’s clear this mid-cycle update is more than just a fresh coat of paint.

Ram could use a smaller unibody pickup such as this, even with a mid-size BOF truck in the lineup. The price however must be under what Hyundai is asking for Santa Cruz. In light of the emissions rollback and tariffs, maybe the Stellantis bosses should look into manufacturing that 2.2 diesel here in America for small pickups and vans. I kind of like the diesel with 9-speed and 4wd offering.

I wonder if anybody at Ram is smart enough to figure out why the hybrid option is part of the Ford Maverick's success.

That's is why Ford can't keep Maverick in stock, and are about to launch another Small Unibody Truck. Instead the same people who say that V8 performance cars a total market of under 500K is the only place Dodge should play are the same people that say RAM can only have BOF midsize in that very crowded and mostly new segment that has the Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Ranger, and Frontier ...... a ME TOO truck will have little impact and most likely cannibalize Jeep and Ram1500 sales.

And I would take a refreshed SUSW everyday over the STLA PSA Mid.

And if anything needs to come under a Korean Inc car it is DOA, no margin in that.

The front makes me think of KL Cherokee but Fiat-branded & Truck'd.

A really quick (and really bad) photoshop.. lol

Ram Did it Better though.

The Ford Maverick undercuts the Hyundai Santa Cruz on price. The Slate is aiming for below the Santa Cruz for price as they chase the Maverick. Ironically, if Ram overprices their small pickup models and doesn't offer some sort of electrified drivetrain on them, then they truly are competing against the Koreans in that market segment.

We'll set the WayBack machine to 1985 and look at each competitor's reaction to the runaway success of the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan. We see the Ford Aerostar and Chevy Astro. (Named after George Jetson's dog.) The Japanese automakers spruced up their home market commercial vans and shipped them over here. None of them slowed the original minivans sales tsunami. It was a little over a decade before anyone else finally copied the formula of the Chrysler minis. The old Chryco's Ultra-Drive fiasco finally did the original minivans sales momentum in.

History is repeating itself with the Ford Maverick, a small unibody truck with a gas/hybrid drivetrain. The major competitors have midsize trucks, but none follow the Maverick's formula. Ram has part of that formula with the Latin American Rampage, but it lacks a hybrid option. Chrysler had a decent hybrid drive in the Pacifica but let that go to seed while Toyota and Ford passed them by. Now the Punch transaxle is waiting in the wings to usher in another Ultra-Drive fiasco on the front drive lineup.

They have several Hybrid drivetrains available for the SUSW... They just have to be offered. !.3T and E axle... is very nice.

It would canibalize their sales because the JL/T is overdue for a new generation.
The ram 1500 is expensive as a daily-driver, but it's also the only option people have if they don't want to buy a use Ram. But a midsize would only be a problem if they're as capable (or too close to it) as the 1500 for 3/4 the price, or if they're too expensive an you might as well jump up to the 1500 like what happened with the last gen Dakotas.

Doesn't need to be a Me-Too. Ram can go street-truck with it instead of off-road oriented like all the other truck lines are doing right now. Hemi Dakota?

Define which Hemi...... Hurricane 6 would be a beast. But in the end would be best for volume to have the 2.0T and 2.0T ZF hybrid will drive volume and be a way to avoid the RAM... I do expect a value RAM to be in the offering soon.

Street truck would drive traffic but not volume, they have failed from a volume perspective across OEM over and over.

NOW would a Hellcat SRT Dakota be awesome. OH HELL YEAH.

I am the all above guy. We need a Rampage and Dakota.

I also want a mini-Gladiator to compete with the Slate. While Stellantis is dragging their feet on new products for our market, new production facilities went up in Latin America for the Fiat Titano in Argentina, and a production line for the 2.2 liter Multi-Jet diesel in Latin America also was started.

But wait there's more! There's a new Fiat Strada sized pickup for the EMEA region coming in about 6 months. That's the source of my inspiration for a mini-Gladiator.

Being the cheap person that I am, after I arrived at Midway Airport I grabbed a transit bus to a buffet restaurant in Cicero, IL. One of the joys of being a transit rider is often playing frogger to cross the road even using a crosswalk. After dinner when I needed to cross over again to catch the north bound bus. I was being extra vigilant with the traffic. A bright red Ram 700 drove by. I was utterly shocked. It blended in with traffic, it’s small but not tiny like the Chevy Spark or a Mitsubishi Mirage. It would be a great city vehicle.

I've read somewhere that the next Gladiator will pull from the SJ Gladiator.. so we'll see what happens below that pricepoint.

I would love to see a Renegade sized truck, ala' the commanche concept -- which got a lot of good reception from everyone, but nothing ever came of it. Maybe the next-gen Renegade can have something like it.

Though a quad cab wouldn't look too bad either, according to AI.. lol
