Dodge’s Next Vehicle Will Be A SUV Dubbed The “Hornet” For 2023:

Dodge’s Next Vehicle Will Be A SUV Dubbed The “Hornet” For 2023:

Hornet Nameplate Will Return For Upcoming SUV...

It seems like forever ago, but back in November 2019, we discussed Dodge's intentions of bringing a new performance SUV to the market to replace the gap in the lineup left by the successful Dodge Journey. Now while the Dodge brand continues to boast itself as a high-performance"muscle car" brand in the United States and Canada, there are a few Dodge brand vehicles outside the United States and Canada that are still based on front-wheel-drive architectures.

Maybe @TripleT may speak about Challenger, Charger, 2 500s, Stelvio...
Stelvio is the best driving car that not just ever owned but driven, Its dynamics are just incredible. Now I do have a OB2 reader in the trunk for integration issue around the programing for NA fuels. Lets face it, it really a semi-exotic with many of the components equivalent to pilot run tooling. It one of those cars you deal with the quirks because of what it is and how it drives. Will probably move on to a higher product NA sister or brother when they start showing up at dealers.

Yeah since my family nearly goes back to Maxwell, hell my Grandfather may have had check that said that I have owned a lot of Mopar not including what family has owned. Turismo 2.2, Omni, Valiant Signet, Daytona, Lebaron. Laser, Neon, Intrepid, Stratus, Caravan, Breeze, T&C, PT Cruiser, Pacifica, Charger, Journey, Durango, 500, Scat Pack, 500, Challenger and Stelvio....

I can tell without a doubt that are making the best cars in the companies history, and I pretty scared about the future under the new ownership that seems to have a Daimler attitude around vehicles.

But lets enjoy what we have now.

LOL, I didn't mean it like that! :D It just doesn't seem to fit the "performance" idea of Dodge now...aka why the Journey & Caravan are gone. So just confused by this.

Maybe I haven't kept up, but I was under the impression that this was going to be a RWD "fun" vehicle, vs a FWD vehicle with a little 1.5T, so I'm a little disappointed. By your comment, maybe I'm thinking of the "big sister" vehicle then?

I bought my Cherokee because Dodge doesn't have a modern equivalent vehicle.

I hope to good it doesn't have a FWD version.... I already don't like that the engine is running the wrong way.

We are in the golden year folks soon it won't matter, everything will be soulless electric appliance where it doesn't matter which way the motor is mounted and the rotational dynamics will be a idea of the past.

My assumption is will be AWD only. Caravan and Journey were dinosaurs is probably the real answer and were dragging QA rating down that all of sudden became a side thread to this thread.

Just so you and your bud alexb know from where I stand, I’ve owned in my life a 73 Duster, 84 Reliant, 85 Lebaron2.5, 92 Dynasty, 96 Intrepid, five Chrysler minivans to haul my four kids around, five dakotas of various ages and configurations, an 02 Ram, and currently a 2021 Grand Cherokee, 2019 Ram 1500 classic, and one of the kids drives a 2019 Challenger 3.6. My last several purchases have been utterly flawless, WITH THE EXCEPTION of the 500 and the dart. 2012 town and country- 1/4 million miles, never turned a bolt on it literally. The fiat and dart exhibited problems unrelated to assembly, but rather poor designs and engineering. Halfshafts failing, clutches, ludicrous oil consumption, electrical gremlins. For goodness sake we couldn’t pump gas into the Fiat half the time because of defective safety valves. And it’s a common problem! And yes I know where they are made. I don’t need someone wagging a finger at me telling me I told on myself. Just like we all know where the engineering and manufacturing technology behind them came from . Italy. I’m not here to beat up Mopar my friends . Step it down a notch . But you will not convince me that Fiat ever even came close to approaching the level of quality , durability, and engineering prowess that mother Mopar had back in the day, or even what Daimler was certainly capable of if the money had been spent properly. So we agree to disagree. Move on

“I’m not here to beat up Mopar my friends” : Yes your are beat up here hence your utter nonsense about Italy.

“”Step it down a notch”
How about NO.

Like I said you are factually incorrect. You can argue all you want, that you had a bad vehicle, is true but overall your just wrong. Sorry you got a bad vehicle. Your older it seems and you may not know the term what trolling means. So you want to Zeno-troll I'll point you where you can share with like minded people. That you would argue for the Daimler era vehicle which were profoundly flawed, penny pinched bad, has some of the worst interior in North America automotive industry is on is face funny. That list of vehicle list and that you have rose color glasses is also funny. Your either have the rosiest glasses every made or your a lottery winner sort of luck. Reliant, Lebaron, Dynasty, Intrepid were gremlin laden vehicles. The mid year minivan has one of the worst transmissions ever made it was rushed to market ahead of schedule and nearly everyone of them had to be replaced or majorly rebuild. It is famously bad time. Go cast your line somewhere else with people who don't know better. Disagree and Disagree.

Nothing factually incorrect about anything I said. Don’t need you to tell me about Ultradrive. Owned two. Bad . And the 500 was worse.

Also never told you my life with Mopars was rosie. Just gave you a partial list of what I have owned.

Pacifica is the single worst car I have every owned it was frankly a Lemon law vehicle, it if not for my patience would have been returned. It was in the Dealer 36 times from everything from seat belts, fuel injection system, gas tank, even heater system.

Because of the single vehicle every Mopar made on the planet is bad, especially ones from Windsor and Designed in Detroit. Zeno comment here Zeno Comment there....

Yes your factually incorrect Quality level are higher now then any time in the companies history. It is document fact.... better then under Lee, Eaton, the Germans, certainly then under the New Yorkers.

They are making the best, most capable, and highest quality vehicles since Walter slapped his name and Maxwell and grad up the Dodge Brother company after their death. Those are the fact. Inconvenient as it is to your claims. The 2 trouble free 500 beat you one.

Take it to All other moPar site or twitter.... flame flame flame :D thanks for the fun though.

Perhaps. But probably not. I prefer Chryslers.
Go buy one while you can, Chrysler needs all the help it can to stay a viable brand. But it is CUSW vehicle, Like the Dart and Like the Cherokee. The new Grand a G architecture, The new Charger and Challenger are.... The Compass and Renegade are SUSW, as will the Hornet, Every part of the LXs were revised, thankfully. The DT, JL, and WK are all developed under Fiat Chrysler....

The only vehicle left from the Golden age are left over Caravans, Journey and 1500 Classics...... better hurry.

LOL. You’re a goodin. I like someone with some passion. Now come on Stellantis! We need more Dodges and Chrysler’s to argue about! Don’t let it die!

Agree totally. Took some geniuses to buy a company for 36b and sell if for 7, all the while gutting it in the process. That is one deal that should have never been done. It it’s history now of course. Hopefully we will see big long overdue investments in Chrysler and Dodge coming soon.

FIAT much like Ford have enjoy stable Founder family ownership: The Agnellis.
Now there’s good and bad that comes with family ownership, but for Mopar the Italians saved Mopar, been Jeep’s best owners , and have more U.S. Factory workers than GM.

Which goes back to to how Cherokee is odd packaged.
Actually it was fine for the time. Similar platforms from Ford or GM were not better. They've improved at the later date.

Dart is on this platform and Dart offers similar combined leg room as Alfa Romeo Giulia. Alfa is shorter in length and is RWD. Yet some people are saying that Alfa is small inside. LOL

And this is why I was saying that Cherokee should just switch to Giorgio and it will offer similar interior room as the current model.

On the other hand Small Wide is one of the better packaged platforms. CUSW and it are on the opposite end of spectre.

The Cherokee is product that been label both midsize or small which adds to its oddity.
I feel it aged roughness instead with grace.

Hornet may be answer for it. Roughly the same interior space.

What about useable cargo space though?

I'm ok with the KL's seating space, other than the headroom in the back seat with the sunroof, and I'm 6'2". But the cargo room is it's greatest shortfall because of the sloped rear design.

Huh….. they are building the new vehicle for your wife. Well it’s unlikely to be like the Soul…. as it’s sister vehicle is a Tonale
