Braun Recalls 199 Units Of Its Chrysler Voyager Entervan For Seats

Seat Supplier Blames Welder For Issue...

The Braun Corporation (Braun) is recalling 199 units of 2023 to 2024 Chrysler Voyager vehicles equipped with the company’s GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats. The recliner mechanism may not engage when the seat back is fully reclined. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

When force is applied to the shoulder belt, the seat back could be released, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Recall Chronology –

  • On May 13, 2024, Braun was notified of recall 24E-026; in response, we submitted their recall for the units produced potentially containing the affected equipment.
  • Recall 24E-026 was based on an FMVSS 207/210 test in Freedman Seating Co. (the supplier of the place 2place GO-ES Spacer Saver Foldaway Seat) test lab on January 26, 2024; the seat was unable to sustain the test load on the shoulder belts. If the seat back recliner mechanism is not fully engaged, the seat back could be released when a substantial load is applied to the shoulder belt, potentially increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant during a vehicle crash.
  • Freedman Seating Co. said in its official statement to the NHTSA that “the welder who took over this process was not effectively trained in the use of the welding fixtures and neglected to use the additional fixture that was needed to accurately locate the recliner mechanism relative to the seat back stop.”
2020 Chrysler Pacifica Limited by BraunAbility. (MoparInsiders).

Dealers will inspect and repair the seat as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed out on Monday, May 27, 2024. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-800-488-0359.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
