Blind Man Runs A Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock Down 1/4-Mile

Runs 11.5 @ 123 MPH...

Speed is king in the world of high-performance cars, and the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock reigns supreme with its staggering 807 horsepower and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. But what makes this story truly remarkable is not just the raw power of the Super Stock but the indomitable spirit of the man behind the wheel.

Sheldon Wilson is a blind man with an insatiable passion for speed. Despite his visual impairment, Sheldon is no stranger to the drag strip, having previously raced HELLCATs and TRXs. Recently, he took on the challenge of taming the Super Stock’s ferocious power at the Alaska Raceway Park.

The SRT Super Stock is one of the most lightweight supercharged Challengers to roll off the Dodge assembly line, though it still tips the scales at around 4,450 lbs. Sheldon’s Frostbite-colored Super Stock isn’t the lightest car on the strip. While there’s an option to delete the passenger seat for weight reduction, Sheldon chose to keep it, relying on a co-pilot to guide him down the track. It’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to adapt and conquer.

On his initial run, Sheldon approached the track cautiously, acquainting himself with the nuances of the Super Stock. Traction control initially played a limiting role, but Sheldon found his rhythm once disengaged. With a roar that echoed through the Alaskan air, he unleashed the full might of the 6.2-liter HEMI® Demon V8.

The result was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Sheldon blazed down the quarter-mile in an impressive 11.5 seconds. As he hurtled towards the finish line at a mind-boggling 123 mph, his co-pilot provided subtle guidance on the steering wheel, ensuring every inch of the track was conquered flawlessly.

This achievement is not the culmination of Sheldon’s journey; it’s a mere pit stop. With an unwavering determination to push boundaries, he envisions future modifications to propel him into the elusive ten-second range. His ultimate goal? To face off against Dan Parker, a fellow speed enthusiast and the self-proclaimed fastest blind man, who clocked an astonishing 211 mph in his Chevy Corvette.

Sheldon’s story is a testament to the power of the human spirit, a living example that passion, tenacity, and an unwavering will to defy limitations can lead to extraordinary accomplishments. He reminds us that the pursuit of speed transcends the boundaries of sight and that true horsepower resides not just in the engine but in the heart.
