One of Hollywood’s most unique custom Mopars is heading to the Mecum Indy auction block this May. The 1967 Plymouth Barracuda, famously customized by legendary builders Richard “Korky” Korkes and George Barris, was featured in the 1972 film Corky starring Robert Blake. This one-of-a-kind Barracuda boasts a rich film and television history and striking design elements that make it a true collector’s gem.
A Custom Build with Hollywood Pedigree –

This Barracuda was designed by Harry Bradley and built by Korkes and Barris, the same duo behind the original 1966 Batman TV show Batmobile. With its aggressive styling, the car played a central role in Corky, an intense action-thriller where Robert Blake portrayed a struggling stock car racer. But its screen presence didn’t stop there. The car later appeared on Knight Rider, starred in Sears DieHard battery commercials in 1976, and was even featured in Mopar Collectors Guide magazine.
Under the Hood: Classic Mopar Power –

This custom Barracuda retains its matching-numbers small-block 4.5-liter (273 cubic-inch) LA V8 engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. While many Hollywood cars receive drivetrain swaps over the years, this one remains true to its original configuration. A Don Garlits tachometer sits in the cabin as a nod to its racing roots.
One-of-a-Kind Custom Features –

Korkes and Barris outfitted this Barracuda with striking modifications, including a front spoiler, fog lights, side scoops, a polished side exhaust, and a high-plane rear wing. It rides on polished 5-spoke wheels, maintaining a stance that is both aggressive and classic. The original custom paintwork remains intact, and the interior still carries the unique touches added during its Hollywood days.
A Piece of Racing and Film History –

Further adding to this Barracuda’s provenance is a signature from NASCAR legend Richard Petty, who also appeared in Corky alongside George Barris. The car comes with extensive memorabilia, including original movie lobby cards, press books, a film poster, and a bulletin from Korky himself.
Mecum Indy 2025: A Rare Opportunity –

This historic muscle car is set to cross the auction block at Mecum Indy on Saturday, May 17, 2025. With its rich Hollywood and Mopar history, this Barracuda is expected to draw significant attention from collectors, film buffs, and Mopar enthusiasts alike.
This is your chance if you’ve ever wanted to own a George Barris-built Hollywood legend. Mecum Indy will be the place to watch as this one-of-a-kind Corky Barracuda finds its next home.
