AN INSTANT CLASSIC: Ram Launches 1500 Classic Laramie Models In Brazilian Market!
Available In Laramie & Laramie Night Edition...
The Ram 1500 Classic (DS) has arrived in Brazil, to offer customers a gateway to the only “premium” pickup truck brand in the Latin American (LATAM) country. The Ram 1500 Classic has continued to play an integral part in the Ram portfolio not just in the North American market, but in regions like the Middle East and Australia. So as production gets ready to unwind in the U.S., it makes sense to continue production in Mexico for export markets.
The Classic is another step in the growth process for the Ram brand in Brazil, being the fourth vehicle launch in less than three years. It started with the launch of the revised 2019 Ram 2500 Laramie and continued with the Ram 1500 Rebel in 2021, and the Ram 3500 Laramie and Limited Longhorn this past March.
Produced at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico (along with the Ram 2500/3500), the Ram 1500 Classic will be available starting Thursday, September 15th at 58 Ram dealerships across Brazil. The first model to arrive will be the Laramie, followed by the Laramie Night Edition.
Laramie models will be available in Diamond Black (PXJ), Bright White (PW7), Patriot Blue (PPX), Granite Crystal (PAU), and Delmonico Red (PRV) for Laramie, which stand out with the truck’s chrome grille, bumpers, wheels, mirrors, and exterior badging. For those who don’t like the chrome look, the Laramie Night Edition has painted the chrome parts in Gloss Black and the bumpers in body color. It can be selected in Flame Red (PR4), Diamond Black (PXJ), Bright White (PW7), and Granite Crystal (PAU).
The interior of the Laramie models are fitted in Black leather, with White stitching, and Silver, Gold, and woodgrain appliqués.
Powertrain –
There is only one engine choice for the Ram 1500 Classic in Brazil: the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8. As the most powerful pickup in Brazil, it shares its engine with the Ram 1500 Rebel and delivers 400 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. The HEMI features variable valve timing (VVT) and fuel-saver technology as well.
It is paired with an 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission, for smooth, fast-shifts.
The HEMI benefits from a new 850-watt electric cooling fan that adapts the fan’s power consumption to the cooling demand. Eliminating the traditional fan in front of the engine helps improve fuel economy by reducing parasitic losses and also reduces noise.
As for the drive modes, the BorgWarner part-time transfer case has 2WD, 4×4 HI, and 4LO options. The driver controls everything electronically, through the buttons below the gear selector on the instrument panel. Ram 1500 Classic Laramie also is fitted with a 3.92 rear axle ratio and non-slip rear differential, ensuring grip on the most varied terrains.
Looks –
While the Ram 1500 (DS) may be turning 14 years old this year, it still evokes the classic “big rig” styling of the second and third-generation Ram 1500 pickups before it. A styling characteristic missed by many fans who own the newer fifth-generation Ram 1500 (DT) trucks.
The headlights have a dual-function projector, playing the role of the low beam and high beam, which is also aided by an additional lamp. Integrated amber LEDs play the roles of daytime running light (DRL) and turn signal. The taillights are made up of 15 LEDs.
