Alfa Romeo Recalls 62,000 Giulia And Stelvio Models For Camera Software
Rearview Camera Defect May Cause Image Failure, Raising Crash Risk

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling a combined 62,910 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio vehicles from model years 2020 through 2025 due to an issue that could prevent the rearview camera image from displaying properly. The problem involves both a printed circuit board (PCB) defect and a software stability issue, which may result in the rearview camera showing a blank, black, blue, or inverted screen when the driver shifts into reverse.
According to the automaker, this issue causes the affected vehicles to violate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, which governs rear visibility systems. The regulation requires that the rearview image must automatically appear at the start of each backing event and meet specific field-of-view and image-size criteria. If the image fails to appear, the driver’s visibility is reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
Affected Vehicles –

The recall covers two popular Alfa Romeo models built between August 2019 and March 2025:
-
2020–2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia (approximately 25,948 units) built from August 6, 2019, to March 12, 2025.
-
2020–2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (approximately 36,962 units) built from August 2, 2019, to March 14, 2025.
Stellantis says the suspect period was determined using vehicle production and supplier records. Vehicles produced after March 2025 are not affected because they were built with updated parts and software.
The Cause And Remedy –

The issue stems from a hole obstruction in the PCB and/or software instability that prevents the rear camera from functioning correctly. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the radio unit and update the rearview camera software at no cost to the owner.
