Alfa Romeo Names Cristiano Fiorio As Man In Charge Of F1 Program!
The Guy Who Lead The Commercial Launch Of The 500e, Is Now In Charge...
Just days after the Alfa Romeo brand announced a renewal of the partnership it has with Sauber Motorsport, Alfa Romeo has appointed Cristiano Fiorio responsible for Alfa Romeo Formula One. He will directly report to Jean-Philippe Imparato, the Alfa Romeo Brand CEO. Fiorio assumes responsibility for the program, focused on maximizing results with goals of gradual improvement.
Born in Turin, Italy, in 1972, Fiorio worked for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) since 2013, holding various positions over the years. Most recently, he was responsible for brand marketing communication for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and responsible for advertising, digital, events, sponsorships, and trade shows for all the FCA brands. In November 2019, he also led the team that launched the new Fiat 500e city car.
So why is this information important? Alfa Romeo’s presence in motorsport, particularly in Formula One will continue to play a key role in the future of its brand. Formula One has been the ultimate laboratory for technologies that end up in standard automobiles years later. Alfa Romeo says that Formula One will be a key test bed for Alfa Romeo on its path to electrification.
Alfa Romeo’s first electrified vehicle will be the plug-in hybrid version of the Tonale, which should debut next year. The brand will be an all-electric brand by 2030 according to the recent EV Day 2021 Presentation last month.
