Alfa Romeo Mexico Debuts High Performance Giulietta Veloce Model:

Hot Hatch, Makes Us Crave The Turbocharged Compact Alfa...

Alfa Romeo Mexico has announced the introduction of the popular Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce model, which will join the Mexican lineup this year. The turbocharged compact hatchback joins the lineup, hoping to add a more exciting driving experience to the brand’s Mexico offerings after gaining much praise in Europe.

Under the hood of the 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce, is a turbocharged 1.75-liter four-cylinder with direct injection that makes an awesome 237 horsepower and 251 ft-lb. of torque backed to a modern 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with sequential manual control. Traction is sent to the front axle and thanks to the exclusive Q2 electronic differential, which increases the turning capabilities and maintains absolute control even in extreme conditions. It allows the Giulietta Veloce to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 244 km/h (151.6 mph). This is all done achieving a city fuel economy of 12.75 km/l or about 30 mpg.

The Giulietta Veloce features three modes of driving dynamics thanks to Alfa Romeo’s exclusive DNA system

  • Dynamic Mode (D) – Stability control is less intrusive, shift changes are made more quickly, accelerator input is more sensitive, steering feel is stiffened, and the turbocharger works at maximum pressure (overboost). The brakes calipers also adjust to reduce the braking time and distance.
  • Natural (N) – The stability control (VDC), engine response, turbocharger works with less boost pressure and Q2 differential is deactivated in order to provide a more comfortable and smoother ride, to allow a better daily driving use experience.
  • All-Weather (A) – VDC programming allows for maximum safety and total control of the car on low grip surfaces such as ice and/or snow. The steering is calibrated to make slight corrections in case the rear axle has abrupt glides. The motor response is smooth than in normal conditions and both the Q2 differential and the overboost feature have been deactivated.

The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce is also loaded with technology, providing sophisticated connectivity and comfort for its driver and passengers. A premium Alpine audio system that features 8-speakers, 500-watts of output, 8-channel amplifier, and a subwoofer is a beloved feature for those audiophiles out there. A 7-inch touchscreen that includes reverse camera, as well as the Apple CarPlay system and Android Auto to interact with smartphones, is standard.

When it comes to styling the Giulietta is one of the most attractive looking hatchbacks on the road. Its elegant and functional details, as well as lines of character that provide a unique image in its class. Bi-Xenon headlights with a carbon fiber finish, front fog lamps with a unique black bezel, yellow Brembo calipers, a set of 18-inch aluminum wheels with a diamond finish, unique exhaust outlets, door handles, and side mirrors finished in a Dark Miron finish add a more aggressive and performance-oriented look to the Giulietta Veloce. To add a racing touch to the car, a yellow stripe was placed under the grille, as well as on the edge of the rear fascia.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce is available in six exterior colors for the 2020 model year. Those colors include Alfa White, Silverstone Gray, Alfa Red, Magnesium Gray Opaque, Misano Blue, and Alfa Black. The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce is only available in the Mexican market in North America and has a starting price of $670,400.00 MXN (or about $36,033 USD).

The racy Giulietta Veloce makes us crave the turbocharged hatchback here in the United States. Unfortunately, with the car market shrinking and vehicles like the Giulietta’s competitor the Ford Focus disappearing from the market, we doubt we will ever see such an awesome hatchback offered here again.
