Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Named “Future Classic” At 2022 Autocar Awards!
505 Horsepower Sport Sedan, Will Be Remembered As A "Classic"...
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has been named a winner of the ‘Future Classics’ awards held as part of this year’s Autocar Awards. Run by Autocar and the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu as part of the museum’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, the Future Classics were determined following votes from National Motor Museum visitors and Autocar readers. A pool of five winners was then selected by the experts at the National Motor Museum.
Replacing Autocar’s ‘Reader’s Champion’ award, the new accolade asked voters to select cars they believed would be revered as classics in 50 years’ time. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio was crowned following praise that it is one of the most soulful cars on sale today. Judges highlighted the car’s driving dynamics, stylish appearance, precision on the road, and outright uniqueness against competitor models.
Combining 50:50 weight distribution with rear-wheel-drive architecture, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is powered by a 510 horsepower (377 kW), 443 lb.-ft. (600 N•m) twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V6 engine, which allows it to achieve a top speed of 191 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.
Mark Tisshaw, Editor at Autocar, said “The Giulia Quadrifoglio has that most important characteristic of a future classic; it gets under your skin very quickly. It is utterly sublime to drive and is beautiful to look at – it could have won this award just for the way it looks – but most importantly it has the key quality that we all love about Alfa Romeos, it has soul.”
Damien Dally, Managing Director of Alfa Romeo UK said: “We’re honored that the Giulia Quadrifoglio has been recognized as a future classic by Autocar and the National Motor Museum. The Giulia Quadrifoglio is a true embodiment of Alfa Romeo’s DNA; it’s beautiful, wonderful to drive, and has blistering performance – I’m excited for all the people who get to enjoy this car over the next 50 years too!”
The Autocar-Beaulieu Future Classics were announced as part of the 2022 Autocar Awards which took place at Silverstone Wing on Tuesday, May 10th.
