CAUGHT: 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Mule Testing On The Streets:

Prototype Teases TRX's Brawny Style...

Over the past year, we have talked a lot about the upcoming HELLCAT-powered Ram 1500 Rebel TRX and its naturally aspirated Ram 1500 Rebel TR variant. While we broke to our readers recently that it doesn’t look like the 7.0-liter 426 cubic-inch HEMI-powered Rebel TR will make it to market, it isn’t stopping Ram Truck engineers from continuing progress of the supercharged off-roader.

One of our keen readers happened to catch one of the TRX prototypes running around Metro Detroit earlier this week. While we seen a blacked out Limited model before, this one is carrying Laramie badges and is equally equipped. The lifted suspension, BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, bolted fender flares, and huge exhaust gives this monster away in an instant. Unlike the Rebel TR which had 6-lug wheels on all four corners, this Rebel TRX matches the first blacked out TRX prototype we seen with 6-lug wheels up front and 8-lug wheels in the rear. Yes… 8-lug wheels. It looks like the Ram Truck engineers aren’t messing around when it comes to putting the full power of the HEMI HELLCAT engine down to the ground.

The one rear shot, in particular, is the first time we are seeing the actual stance of the width of this supercharged offroad monster. Just like the original TRX prototype we have seen, this truck also carries a Mopar hard tonneau cover which makes the truck look more like a customized model from a typical Ram Truck owner. Where the 2016 Ram Rebel TRX Concept featured a detuned version of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8, our sources are telling us that the Ram Truck engineering is going for a lot more power. Those of you who may remember when rumors of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk were originally hitting the web, the talks were calling for 575 horsepower to 650 horsepower power ratings. Then Jeep shocked the world by giving customers the full 707 horsepower from the HELLCAT V8! We might be seeing a moment like that.

The Ram 1500 Rebel TRX is scheduled for release sometime in 2021. It will be built alongside the other Ram 1500 (DT) models at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Sterling Heights, Michigan near Detroit. Stay tuned to our sister site 5thGenRams.com, as we continue to bring you the latest Ram Rebel TRX news and information.
