Unlike the other parts of FCA North America, FCA México still releases its sales numbers for each month. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic the Dodge Durango and Dodge Neon tripled their sales for the month of May when compared to May of 2019. If you are puzzled about the Dodge Neon reference, yes, the Neon is alive and well in Mexico and the Middle-East markets.
FCA México reported a total sales of 2,437 units for May 2020. The Ram brand lead the way for the FCA brands with 1,377 units being sold. Ram ProMaster vans quadrupled its sales when compared to the same time last year. Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic sales made up 626 of the units sold, while the compact Ram 700 pickup sold 313 units, and the Ram ProMaster Rapid had 212 units sold during the month.
The Jeep® brand sold 426 units during the month. The iconic Wrangler lead the way with 152 units sold, followed by the premium Grand Cherokee with 91 units. The all-new Jeep Gladiator midsize pickup sold 76 units while being sold as premium vehicle and only available in Sahara and Rubicon models being sold in the market.
The Dodge brand had 432 units leave dealer showrooms during the month. The brand’s sales leader was the Dodge Attitude – the sub-compact sedan based on the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, which had 229 units.
The FIAT brand had 183 units sold during the month. The A-segment Mobi model was the brand’s best-seller. The B-segment sub-compact UNO also sold 50 units.
As for the other brands, the Chrysler brand sold 15 units for the month. The Alfa Romeo brand only sold 4 units during the month of May, the brand has introduced a new Alfa Romeo VR 3D application for configuring the Giulia and Stelvio models. The program is being considered to be rolled out globally for the Alfa Romeo brand.
