Opel Drops the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo

From Munich to PlayStation, Opel’s Wild EV Hot Hatch

Opel just pulled the wraps off something pretty wild — the new Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, a concept car that you won’t just see at an auto show, but actually drive in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation this fall. The reveal comes almost exactly a decade after Dodge shocked fans with the insane SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo back in 2015, and Opel is clearly taking notes from that same playbook.

Performance That Belongs on a Console Screen –

Under the skin, this Corsa isn’t your everyday city car. It packs two electric motors making a combined 800 horsepower (588 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. That setup sends power to all four wheels and rockets the car from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2 seconds. Top speed? 200 mph (320 km/h). To make it even more game-like, Opel built in a temporary “boost mode” that unlocks an extra 80 hp (59 kW) for a few seconds at a time—like hitting the nitrous button in Fast & Furious.

Despite its big 82 kWh battery, the car only weighs 2,580 pounds (1,170 kg) thanks to lightweight materials. For reference, that’s about the same curb weight as a modern Mazda Miata, but with eight times the horsepower.

A Bold Look With Real Racing Influence –

Design-wise, Opel leaned into its “Bold and Pure” philosophy but cranked it to 11. The Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo sits lower and wider than a normal Corsa and features futuristic details like an illuminated Opel Blitz badge, a slim visor grille, and signature compass lighting front and rear. Active aerodynamics — from a moving rear spoiler to an adaptive diffuser — keep it glued to the track.

Opel’s motorsport history also shows up in small details. The wheels, roll cage, and even parts of the spoiler feature triangular elements inspired by the old Opel Manta 400 rally car. The color scheme is equally bold: pearl white bodywork with bright yellow aero elements, black roof accents, and staggered 21-inch front / 22-inch rear wheels (53 cm / 56 cm) wearing Goodyear tires and Bilstein dampers.

Interior: A “Detoxed” Driving Space –

Inside, Opel stripped things back for what it calls a “detoxed racing experience.” Instead of multiple screens, all the key info projects onto a head-up display. A lightweight bucket seat with a six-point harness suspends the driver in the cockpit, surrounded by illuminated fabrics that even flash as blind-spot warnings. It’s futuristic, minimalist, and designed to feel as much like a race sim as the real game.

Why This Matters –

This isn’t just a flashy design study. Opel is making a statement: it’s committed to small cars, performance, and connecting with a new generation of drivers through gaming. Just as Dodge’s Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo previewed design and tech themes that filtered into production, Opel hints that future GSE performance models could borrow ideas from this radical EV.

And the best part? You don’t have to wait for Opel to build a real road-going version. Starting this fall, anyone with a PlayStation can jump behind the wheel of the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 7 and put all 800 horses to work.
