Ram Delays 1500 Ramcharger and REV Pickups Again

Electric and Range-Extended Trucks Now Pushed to 2026 and 2027

It’s been a long road for Ram’s electric truck plans—and now it just got longer. The highly anticipated Ram 1500 REV and its range-extended sibling, the Ramcharger, are facing yet another delay.

Ram originally promised the all-electric 1500 REV would arrive at U.S. dealerships by late 2024. That timeline got bumped to 2025. Now? Try summer 2027. When it finally shows up, the REV will be sold as a 2028 model year truck.

The Ramcharger, which runs on electric power but includes a gas-powered Pentastar V6 engine acting as an onboard generator, also isn’t sticking to its initial schedule. It was supposed to hit the market by the end of 2024, but now Stellantis says the first quarter of 2026 is the new target—assuming nothing else changes.

So, what’s going on? According to Stellantis, the company is “extending the quality validation period” to make sure everything works properly before trucks land in customer driveways. Ram says it’s trying to iron out the kinks before going full steam ahead with production.

In addition, Stellantis told Crain’s Detroit Business that slowing consumer demand for electric half-ton trucks is part of the reason the REV is taking a back seat. That’s a big shift, considering the REV was originally supposed to launch before the Ramcharger.

When the 1500 REV finally arrives, it will have been more than four years since Ram pulled the covers off the pre-production version in April 2023. The Ramcharger, first shown in November 2023, will also face a two-plus-year wait to reach showrooms.

Both trucks are slated to be built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Michigan. Stellantis is investing $235.5 million into the facility to prep it for production—marking the first time the automaker will build a fully electric vehicle in the United States.

If you’re holding out for an electric Ram, you’ll need to hang on a while longer. And with this latest update, it’s clear the road to electrification is turning out to be more of a crawl than a sprint.

Does anyone on this forum still believe we will ever see a new from the ground up Chrysler ? If they are ditching these things I can only imagine what’s happening to the Chrysler portfolio, if you want to call it that.

Yes. Chrysler and electric trucks aren’t the same thing. Chrysler should be fast tracked….its been how long since we’ve seen anything new?

Ramcharger delayed to 2026 is a bit disappointing.
