Dodge//SRT and TSR Extend NHRA Partnership

Multi-Year Deal Keeps Direct Connection Cars in Top Fuel and Funny Car

Dodge//SRT and Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) have announced a multi-year extension of their partnership, keeping Dodge’s Direct Connection-backed Top Fuel and Funny Car entries competing in the NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series. The announcement was made during the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida, marking a continued commitment to high-performance drag racing.

“Working with an elite, championship-caliber team like Tony Stewart Racing brings Dodge and Direct Connection to the forefront at each of the NHRA’s 20 national events, especially with legendary drivers like Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan behind the wheel,” said Dodge CEO Matt McAlear. “Dodge’s celebrated legacy in NHRA competition dates back more than 60 years, and we’re looking forward to celebrating more wins with Tony, Matt, Leah, and the TSR team for years to come.”

Since joining forces in 2022, TSR’s Dodge//SRT entries have secured 16 NHRA national event wins, including a Funny Car World Championship in 2023 with Matt Hagan piloting the TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT HELLCAT. Hagan, a four-time NHRA World Champion, has dominated in his Dodge-backed career with 52 national event wins.

“It’s awesome to have sustainability with such great sponsors like Dodge, Mopar, and Direct Connection,” said Hagan. “This is my 18th season driving a Dodge//SRT Funny Car, and my family has been a Dodge dealer for 50 years, so it’s great to have that connection. We can race on Sunday and sell on Monday.”

In 2023, Tony Stewart made his Top Fuel debut, taking over for Leah Pruett in the TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT dragster. Pruett, who placed third in the 2023 NHRA Top Fuel standings, stepped away from racing in 2024 to start a family with Stewart, welcoming their son, Dominic, on November 18. Stewart, a NASCAR Hall of Famer, impressed in his rookie Top Fuel season, finishing ninth overall and earning NHRA Rookie of the Year honors.

“To have racing partners like Dodge//SRT, Mopar, and Direct Connection has been a great asset for our TSR team, as well as for the entire drag-racing sport,” said Stewart. “It’s important to have strong OEM support in all forms of motorsports, and we’re so excited to continue our involvement with the Dodge brand and Direct Connection.”

Even as she steps away from driving, Pruett remains a key figure in the TSR operation, focusing on sponsorships, coaching, and team strategy.

“I have held Dodge, Mopar, and Direct Connection close to my heart for many years, and Tony and I are thrilled to extend the TSR and Dodge//SRT partnership,” said Pruett. “This partnership isn’t just about winning on the track, but also about keeping Direct Connection engaged with customers and fans.”

Love drag racing, especially the Factory Stock class. Hope Dodge can come up with a smaller, lighter V-8 powered car to race in NHRA Factory Stock long term.
