Peugeot’s 9X8 Hypercar Will Make Its American Debut At Sebring

Will Be On The Track On March 17th...

The Peugeot TotalEnergies team is gearing up for the launch of the 11th season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) with their debut on the Sebring track on March 17th. This will be the first appearance of the PEUGEOT 9X8 on American soil and on the iconic track in Sebring, Florida.

Following the experience gained during the three races held in 2022 and the more than 10,000 km (6,214 miles) traveled during winter tests, technical developments were made for the PEUGEOT 9X8. The team is determined to fight for victory in every race, as this season will be highly competitive with the arrival of some of the world’s largest manufacturers in the Le Mans Hypercar class, consisting of eleven cars.

Before the first race of the FIA WEC season, the Prologue Stage will take place on March 11th and 12th in Florida. These tests will enable the drivers and the team to better understand the track’s specific challenges, which will be demanding for the PEUGEOT 9X8.

“Starting the season in Florida, right after the winter of Europe, is a great opportunity. This track is very demanding for the suspension system and the powertrain. Even if the race is shorter, running in Sebring without any problem is one of the key elements to facing the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We know it will not be enough, because nothing can replace a 24-hour race, but it will still be positive,” says Olivier Jansonnie, Technical Director of Peugeot Sport.

To achieve their goals and remain competitive throughout the season, the team will receive support from partners such as TotalEnergies, Capgemini, Yahoo, Marelli, Établissement Peugeot Frères, Sparco, and Jack and Jones. The teams of the two PEUGEOT 9X8 will remain the same, with Paul Di Resta, Mikkel Jensen, and Jean-Eric Vergne driving PEUGEOT #93, and Loïc Duval, Gustavo Menezes, and Nico Müller in PEUGEOT #94.

Their debut on the Sebring track marks the beginning of a journey that will see them face tough competition, but with their technological advancements and the support of their partners, they are ready for the challenge.
