“7:01 – The Story of Viper’s Return to the Green Hell”…

The Must Watch Viper Documentary:

There is no question that the 5th generation Dodge Viper ACR-E, is one of the best track cars in the world; if not the best. Last summer, a crowdfunding effort was put together by diehard Viper enthusiast and fans to take the latest and greatest Dodge Viper to the Nürburgring Nordschleife and set the lap record there. This would have given the Viper the best farewell send off, as Dodge was wrapping up production of the Viper a few weeks later.

Sponsors like Kumho Tire, Prefix and Viper Exchange almost others jumped on board with the crowdfunding effort to help fund the effort with equipment, cash and support.

A handful of the best road racers on the planet jumped at the chance to drive one of the two 2017 Dodge Viper ACR-E (in GTS-R livery) around the ring. Dominik Farnbacher, Luca Stolz, Lance Arnold and Mario Farnbacher all lapped the car around the ring. The teams dealt with tire issues, terrible weather and money troubles.

In the end, the team didn’t get the time they were looking for, but set the lap record for fastest American car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. They also now hold the record for the fastest manual transmission car lap at the track as well. The effort was not a failure. The team still thinks that the car can break into the sub-7 minute lap time mark around the track, given the right conditions.

Last month, General Motors took their new 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with 755 horsepower to the Nürburgring Nordschleife and put down a unofficial 7:12 lap time, according to the website BridgeToGantry. General Motors has yet to release their numbers.

FoxProFilms and photobymeyer, documented the event of the Viper team’s journey to the 7:01 mark. FoxProFilms created the amazing documentary “7:01 – The Story of Viper’s Return to the Green Hell”. So far on YouTube it has over 109,000 views. The 25-minute documentary is a must watch for any racing fan, Viper fan or Mopar geek…
