2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale Updates Revealed In Paris

Will North America See Them?

At the 2024 Paris Motor Show, Alfa Romeo introduced updates to the 2025 Tonale, a move aimed at addressing customer feedback regarding the C-segment premium crossover’s fit and finish. Despite its distinct Italian design, the Tonale has faced criticism for falling short of the standards set by competitors like the Volvo XC40 and BMW X1. In response, Alfa Romeo has implemented key updates to elevate the interior experience of the 2025 Tonale for European buyers.

Enhanced Interior: A Refined Center Console and Instrument Cluster –

One of the most noticeable updates to the European 2025 Tonale is a redesigned center console that boasts a sleeker, more modern look compared to the outgoing 2024 model. The traditional gear shifter has been replaced with a new rotary selector, a feature that provides a more streamlined and upscale feel. This change also allowed Alfa Romeo to reconfigure the center tunnel area, offering more storage space and improved ergonomics.

Additionally, the instrument cluster received a refresh, making gauges like fuel, battery, and clock displays easier to read. These updates aim to enhance the driver experience and address feedback about the previous design.

North American Market: What’s Confirmed for 2025 So Far –

While these updates are confirmed for the European market, Alfa Romeo has yet to announce if the new center console and instrument cluster improvements will make their way to the North American version of the 2025 Tonale. Here’s what we do know about the North American models at this time:

A Simplified Lineup: Alfa Romeo is simplifying the North American Tonale lineup for 2025, replacing the previous Sprint, Ti, and Veloce trims with a single core version. This streamlined approach aims to make it easier for customers to configure their desired Tonale while offering optional packages to tailor the vehicle to individual preferences.

Tributo Italiano Special Edition: Alongside the core model, a limited-production Tributo Italiano edition will be available, adding exclusive design elements and features for a more bespoke driving experience.

Italian Style Meets Advanced Technology –

The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale continues to showcase the brand’s distinctive design language, staying true to the look of the 2019 concept car that inspired it. The signature “3+3” headlight design, reminiscent of the classic SZ Zagato and Proteo concept, features full LED headlights that provide bright daytime running lights, dynamic turn signals, and a unique “welcome and goodbye” function that activates when starting or turning off the vehicle. The tail lights mirror this design, wrapping around the rear in a seamless light signature that gives the crossover a bold presence.

The Tonale is equipped with Alfa Romeo’s Uconnect 5 infotainment system, featuring a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto™, and Amazon Alexa integration, allowing for a connected and user-friendly in-car experience.

Powerful and Efficient: Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Powertrain –

The North American Tonale continues to focus on electrification, offering a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The PHEV setup combines a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery with a 90-kW electric motor and a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering a combined 285 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. This configuration allows for an all-electric range of 33 miles (53 kilometers), making it a versatile option for both city driving and longer commutes.

With Alfa Romeo’s DNA driving mode selector, drivers can choose between modes like Dual Power/Dynamic, Natural, Advanced Efficiency, and ESC off, tailoring the driving experience to their preferences.

Safety and Convenience: A Focus on Driver Assistance –

The 2025 Tonale also emphasizes safety and is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, and full-speed forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Available packages, such as the Active Assist Package, offer even more features, such as a surround-view camera, park assist, and Traffic Jam Assist for level 2 autonomous driving.

Upscale Comfort with Italian Flair –

Inside the cabin, the 2025 Tonale offers a blend of sporty design and luxury materials, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, available perforated leather seats, and soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels. Options like a dual-pane moonroof and Harman Kardon™ premium audio system add a layer of comfort and sophistication.

The interior design is centered around the driver but also considers passenger comfort, featuring spacious seating and thoughtful details. Unique patterns, logos, and colors reflect Alfa Romeo’s rich racing heritage, creating a premium and driver-focused environment.

What’s Next for North America? –

While the new center console and rotary shifter could boost premium appeal, Alfa Romeo has yet to confirm any revisions to the already-announced North American models.
