The 797 Horsepower 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, Isn’t Cheap!

Is More Expensive Than Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody...

The Dodge//SRT brand announced official pricing for its highly-anticipated 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. As the world’s most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan, the 797 horsepower four-door muscle car won’t be cheap with a starting U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $78,595 (that doesn’t include the $1,495 destination charge). That means the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye will be over $80,000 before you start optioning the car out.

So what does that $80,000 get you? It gets you the detuned version of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon’s supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI High-Output V8, delivering 797 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 707 lb.-ft. torque at 4,500 rpm. The monster HEMI is paired with a quick-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP90 8-speed automatic transmission, that can be operated by the center column shifter or steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. The 8HP90 includes an upgraded torque converter that delivers an 18% increase in torque multiplication when compared with the standard Charger SRT Hellcat.

While it may look like the standard Charger SRT Hellcat, the Redeye version also features 25 major component upgrades, including a larger supercharger, strengthened connecting rods and pistons, a high-speed valvetrain, fuel injection system, and an improved lubrication system.

With an aggressive stance, from its standard widebody kit, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye adds 3.5-inches of width to the four-door sedan, allowing for a set of 20-inch x 11-inch Lightweight Carbon Black wheels wrapped in wide Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires to be tucked under the fenders. The Pirellis are offered in an all-season performance tire as standard equipment, or you can opt for three-season versions as well.

To help boost its menacing looks as well as to help the supercharged HEMI to breathe better, a newly designed performance hood provides maximum air intake to the supercharged power plant from the functional hood scoop to boost power. The new hood takes full advantage of the SRT Hellcat Redeye’s air intake system and is sealed to the airbox.

With a top speed of 203 mph and a quarter-mile elapsed time (ET) of 10.6 seconds at 129 mph, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye is no joke when it comes to performance. When pinned against its 717 horsepower Charger SRT Hellcat sibling on FCA’s 2.1-mile road course, the Redeye was 1.2 seconds (or 7 car lengths) faster after just one lap.

Customers who buy a new SRT model, including the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, receive one full-day session as part of the Dodge//SRT Package at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona.

The question is, is the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye really worth an additional $8,600 for the extra 80 horsepower over the standard 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat? That is what customers will be asking themselves when the car hits showrooms in early 2021.

As for our Canadian readers, we didn’t forget about you. The Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye will have a starting Canadian MSRP of $103,545 (excluding $2,595 for destination charges).

Ordering for the 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye will open up in September.
