Today, the awe-inspiring Rebelle Rally embarks on an eight-day off-road adventure, spanning 1,500 grueling miles of southwestern United States’ unforgiving desert terrain. Jeep®, a dedicated supporter of the Rebelle Rally since its inception in 2016, stands tall in the forefront, championing women’s empowerment in the world of off-roading.
In honor of this globally recognized event, Jeep® has introduced a captivating short film titled “Rebelle With a Cause.” This video provides a glimpse into the unyielding determination of the women as they undergo intensive training, preparing for the Rebelle Rally. Among them, the remarkable Nena Barlow, a two-time Rebelle Champion and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe driver, emerges as a beacon of inspiration, embodying the core values of the Jeep brand: adventure, freedom, authenticity, and passion. Barlow’s mission is to nurture a new generation of women off-road drivers, equipping them with the skills and confidence to conquer any terrain.
Barlow attributes her fervor for exploration to her father, propelling her to pass on the wisdom gained over her 30-year tenure leading off-road tours in her fleet of Jeep Wranglers. As a back-to-back Rebelle Rally champion behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler 4xe, she conducts training sessions that empower aspiring Rebelles to face the demanding challenges of the off-road rally head-on. Barlow passionately affirms, “We are changing the stereotypes of off-roading, and my hope is to provide more pathways for entry, especially for women.”
Beyond her own accolades, Barlow envisions a future where more women break through the barriers of off-roading, paving the way for generations to come. She excitedly shares, “I am already seeing change with Gen Z feeling like this is more of their world.”
For the third consecutive year, Jeep® unites with Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit to form Team 4xEventure. They will commandeer a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon, resolute in defending their hard-earned titles in the overall, electrified, and bone stock categories. This year, they face fierce competition from a rookie team, Full Synd Sisters (#149), comprised of sisters Alex and Megan Taylor, supported by new Rebelle Rally partner Pennzoil. Their chosen steed: a stock Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
Now in its eighth year, the Rebelle Rally stands as a grueling eight-day off-road navigation contest, boasting ten automakers and 65 teams representing 28 states and three nations. The vehicle classes, including the 4×4 and X-Cross categories, feature a diverse array of crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks. This year’s competition also sees a surge in electrified vehicles, vying for supremacy in off-road capabilities.
The 2023 Rebelle Rally commenced today in the picturesque Mammoth Lakes, California, and is scheduled to culminate on October 21 amidst the sweeping dunes of the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southern California.
For those eager to witness the high-octane action and the unyielding spirit of these women, highlights of the event can be viewed at www.rebellerally.com. As the engines roar and the dust settles, the Rebelle Rally stands as a testament to the power of women in the world of off-roading, with Jeep® leading the charge towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
