Slow Selling Low-Volume Colors Are Filling In Gaps In Ram Heavy Duty Lineups!

Would You Choose One?

As the automotive industry continues to face challenges surrounding the ongoing semiconductor shortage, car dealers are struggling to find both new and used car inventory to meet customer demand. The situation has left some dealers with more used vehicles in their inventories than new ones. But now, some vehicles that wouldn’t get a second look from most people are becoming standouts on limited availability lots.

This includes vehicles like this 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman Regular Cab 4×4 which is currently located at LaPorte Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram in LaPorte, Indiana. Painted in Light Green Clear Coat (PGC) paint, this Ram 2500 Tradesman is a truly rare sight to be seen on dealer lots.

As part of the Ram Heavy Duty low-volume paint program, Tradesman, Tradesman Power Wagon, and Big Horn/Lone Star (not available on Big Horn/Lone Star Sport) models can be fitted with 13 additional colors outside the standard color palette for fleet and businesses to choose from. The program is also open to those who want to custom order their Ram in one of those colors for the models listed prior.

Those 13 exterior colors include the following…

    • Black Clear Coat (PX8)
    • Case IH Red Clear Coat (P61)
    • Construction Yellow Clear Coat (P71)
    • Detonator Yellow Clear Coat (PYB)
    • Light Green Clear Coat (PGC)
    • Midnight Blue Clear Coat (PB8)
    • National Safety Yellow Exterior Paint (P74)
    • New Holland Blue Clear Coat (P72)
    • Omaha Orange Clear Coat (PL4)
    • School Bus Yellow Clear Coat (PL1)
    • Timberline Green Pearl Coat (PGW)
    • Utility Orange Clear Coat (P83)
    • Yellow Exterior Paint (P63)

This Light Green Clear Coat color was dropped in March from the lineup. Now with dealer inventories being so low, these trucks are getting more attention than ever before. So instead of this truck sitting on the back lot waiting for someone who is looking for a new work truck to come purchase it, these kinds of low-volume paint-colored trucks are now on the front lines of dealers’ lots filling in empty spots left by already sold inventory.

It also leaves customers second-guessing should they wait for an uncertain amount of time to get a truck they want or pick up one of these rare units for a deal while it is physically there on the lot?

Aren't there minimum numbers of special order colors for ordering? They are fleet only.

That looks like National Forest Service Green. My wife loves it... We have them all over the place out here in MT as surplussed beaters of all different makes. Some really good deals if you are careful and happen to be in the right place at the right time. They are well maintained but hard driven... I'll bet money that is the color for the Nat Forest orders.

Makes sense. Easily identifiable from color, and easily spotted on a forest trail from the air. Looks like a shade of seafoam green.
