1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Concept Car Heads To Mecum

A One-of-a-Kind Dart Concept, Ready for a New Home...

The 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Concept isn’t just another vintage muscle car—it’s a one-of-a-kind piece of Mopar history that’s managed to survive decades without being destroyed, disassembled, or stashed away in a corporate collection. Built by the renowned Alexander Brothers of Detroit, this concept car was Dodge’s vision of an affordable, sporty muscle machine. Debuting at the 1969 Chicago Auto Show, the Swinger 340 Concept was meant to turn heads—and it did just that.

Now, after years in private collections, including the Steven Juliano Collection, this fully restored concept is headed to Mecum Kissimmee on Friday, January 10th. With an estimated value of $160,000 to $180,000, this unique Dart is ready to dazzle enthusiasts once again.

A Closer Look at the Concept’s Design –

Unlike production Dodge Darts from 1969, the Swinger 340 Concept was reimagined with bold styling cues that set it apart.

Exterior Highlights –

  • Custom Front End: The concept features rectangular Cibie headlights, flanked by small inboard fog lamps, nestled in a custom chrome grille—a radical departure from the standard Dart’s circular lights and horizontal bars.
  • Unique Hood Scoop: Though non-functional, the custom hood scoop added a sporty, aggressive edge.
  • Integrated Rear Spoiler: The sculpted rear end, with an integrated spoiler and flowing quarter panels, transformed the Dart’s typically subtle tail design into a bold statement.
  • Tail Panel and Lights: A recessed taillight panel with elongated lenses replaced the standard stacked taillights, giving the concept a futuristic look.
  • Paintwork: Finished in a deep Maroon Metallic with a black tail stripe, the Swinger 340 Concept exudes classic Mopar style.

Interior Details –

Inside, the car combines functionality with flair:

  • Black bucket seats with a classic Hurst shifter dominate the cabin.
  • A radio delete plate and wood-rimmed steering wheel add to its race-ready vibe.
  • The omission of windshield wipers and capped washer reservoir emphasize its conceptual nature.

Under the Hood –

Power comes from a 5.6-liter (340-cubic-inch) V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The setup includes a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust with bright tips, offering the performance expected from a Mopar muscle car. Power steering and brakes ensure it’s just as enjoyable to drive as it is to admire.

A Rare Survivor –

Most concept cars of the era were destroyed after their debut, but the 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Concept was spared. It has been meticulously restored using original and NOS parts, ensuring it remains as true to its original form as possible.

Recently residing in the Klairmont Kollections and offered for sale by RK Motors, this rare muscle car will now take center stage at Mecum Kissimmee. Whether you’re a Dodge enthusiast, collector, or simply a fan of American muscle, this is a chance to own a truly unique piece of history.

Make sure to follow the action on January 10th—this extraordinary Dart is sure to draw a crowd.
