An Even Higher Performance Alfa Romeo Giulia Coming This Summer?
620 Horsepower Sports Sedan Could Debut In June...
The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is the fastest Alfa Romeo ever built. With its 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, the performance-oriented Alfa sedan can go 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and holds the record as the fastest five-passenger vehicle around the iconic Nürburgring. But what happens when those kinds of numbers aren’t good enough, in the growing world of performance cars?
Well, it looks like the Alfa Romeo brand is about to shake up the sports sedan world with the introduction of a new performance model. According to sources close to MoparInsiders.com, it looks like Alfa Romeo isn’t satisfied with the Giulia Quadrifoglio and is working on a new model with even more performance. Enter the return of the GTA nameplate on the Giulia.
While there isn’t a lot known about this new Giulia model, our sources inside Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) are telling us that the GTA will feature a higher output of 620 horsepower, well over 100 horsepower boost for the four-door Italian sedan. Our sources are stating that the new high-performance Alfa, will be mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
GTA stands for Gran Tourismo Allegerita, Allegerita means lightened. With that being said, we are also being told that the GTA will weigh around 20 kilos (or about 44 pounds) lighter than the previous European-spec Giulia Quadrifoglio with the manual transmission.
Don’t expect the upcoming Giulia GTA to be a high production vehicle. We are also being told that the GTA will be in fact be a very low production limited edition. While our sources confirmed that the car will be available in the European market, we are still unsure if the new hot four-door Giulia offering will make it to the shores of North America.
Our sources are also telling us, that this may be the special vehicle unveiling that Alfa Romeo has planned on June 24th in Milan, Italy later this year to kick off the 110th anniversary of the iconic Italian brand.
