Two Stellantis Vehicle Top Canadian Black Book’s “Best Retained Value Awards”!

Challenger & Wrangler Take Home Best Value Awards...

For 60 years, Canadian Black Book (CBB) has been the trusted and unbiased Canadian automotive industry source for vehicle values. Today the company has grown into a leading data provider of vehicle valuations, residual value forecast solutions, and VIN decoding. CBB tools and information are considered ‘The Authority’ for vehicle values not only by car dealers and manufacturers but also the leasing, finance, insurance, and wholesale sectors.

With that being said, CBB has named two Stellantis models at the top of their respective segments in the “2021 CBB Best Retained Value Awards“. The awards recognize vehicles that have retained the greatest percentage of their original MSRP over the past four years (since 2017). CBB’s awards program guides consumers looking for vehicles that hold their value best, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership, a critical purchasing consideration.

The iconic Jeep® Wrangler took top honors in the Mid/Full SUV category for the 12th consecutive year. The 2021 model year has been momentous for the Wrangler (JL) with the introduction of the first electrified Jeep in North America – the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe. While the electrified 4xe may be a pathway for a greener future, Jeep also introduced the first V8-powered Wrangler in almost 40 years with the launch of the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392

The Wrangler now offers the most diverse powertrain options of any Stellantis vehicle, ranging from a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid system, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder, a plug-in hybrid version of the 2.0-liter, and a massive 6.4-liter HEMI V8.

Wrangler also offers a new Xtreme Recon Package for Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 3.6L eTorque and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392, which gives the Wrangler 35-inch tires straight from the factory, as well as a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift, which elevates Wrangler’s off-road capability to best-in-class water fording and approach, break-over, and departure angles.

The other vehicle taking top honors was the Made-In-Canada Dodge Challenger. The large muscle coupe returned to take the Sports Car segment. The Dodge Challenger is the world’s quickest, fastest, and most powerful muscle car. The drag-racing-oriented Challenger SRT Super Stock returns as the halo of the Challenger and outperforms the rest of the competition in the modern horsepower wars with 807 horsepower.

The Challenger can also be equipped with a 303 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that offers efficiency and class-exclusive all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability on SXT and GT models. The AWD system allows for the Challenger to truly offer a daily driver muscle coupe for Canadians.

“A vehicle purchase is an important decision for Canadian consumers, whether it is new or pre-owned. That’s why we’re proud to once again accept these awards from Canadian Black Book,” said David Buckingham, President and CEO, FCA Canada. “Building vehicles with the technology, safety, performance and style that customers want means they stand out and remain desirable purchases, whether a go-anywhere 4×4 icon like Jeep Wrangler or our Brampton-built Dodge Challenger muscle car with up to 807 horsepower.”

Revamped for November 2021, the Best Retained Value Awards have undergone a number of fundamental changes, including the vehicle categories, which have been reduced to 19 from 23, and the algorithm used to measure best-retained value has been altered to take into consideration sales volumes.

“The two Stellantis CBB award wins are no surprise given the two iconic vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler and the Dodge Challenger. This is a testament to the popularity and quality of both those models. And we have to give a proper shout-out to the Jeep Wrangler for its phenomenal run of 12 straight category victories – congratulations,” said Yolanda Biswah, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Canadian Black Book.
