This past week, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) showed off the 2019 Jeep Renegade‘s new styling at the Turino Auto Show in Turin, Italy. However, that version for the Renegade is for the European market. The North American market’s version of the cute ute, still have yet to be seen. However, we expect them to look very similar.
While the European version gets an all-new 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that will make about 120 horsepower, the North American market will more than likely continue with the 2.4-liter “Tigershark” inline-four engine. Our spy photographers have caught early prototypes of the new Renegade with an electric-assisted powertrain. Rumors have been going around about the new 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder with the new electric assisted eTorque system from the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will be available. We believe that the 2.0-liter turbo without the eTorque system will be more than likely an option on the 2019 Jeep Renegade.
Pictures of the European-spec Renegade of course has clear marker lights, unlike the orange marker lights of the North American version. It does look like the European version of the Renegade Trailhawk will not get red tow hooks, according to the press photo featured at the top of this article.
A lot more technology has been put into the upgraded Renegade. Things like a 7-inch thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display or (TFT LCD) and optional 8.4-inch UConnect infotainment system. Jeep has been listening a lot to their Renegade customers. The segment is growing steadily and vehicles like Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax and Ford EcoSport are becoming more and more popular. It seems that one thing that the Jeep brand has been trying to fix is the Renegade’s cartoon-ish quirks and trying to make the updated Renegade more adult. Even adding a liftgate exposed handle is a small detail to be more like it’s bigger brothers.
For us in the North American market, will might see the new 2019 Jeep Renegade make a debut till the 2018 LA Auto Show later this year.
