Van-Based Jeep® Wrangler Design Concept, Leaves Us Wanting More:

The Ultimate Family Off-Roader...

If you are an absolute Jeep® diehard, then probably one of your favorite concept vehicles from the past decade has to be the 2012 Jeep Mighty FC Concept. Jeep designers took a modern-day Wrangler Unlimited (JK) and re-configured it to create a forward cab pickup worthy to hold up to the original Jeep Forward Controls of the 50s and 60s.

The Jeep Mighty FC Concept won the hearts of fans, the cost to develop such a production vehicle proved to be unsuitable. But now, one digital artist has a new take on the next generation of Jeep family haulers.

Meet the “Vangler”. This latest design concept looks like a mix between a Jeep Wrangler (JL) and a Volkswagon Microbus. The militarian look of the Vangler Concept pays homage to the Forward Control models of the past, while still looking very modern in today’s world.

While some fans might think a van variant of the Wrangler might seem a bit far fetched, Jeep did manufacturer van versions of its Forward Control model that included both cargo and passenger configurations. There was even the 1958 Jeep Commuter Concept, a luxury-oriented passenger hauler blending the Forward Control’s styling with popular luxury sedan amenities of the time. Unfortunately, it never made it into production.

With the Jeep brand going forward focusing on more electrified options, a van-bodied vehicle would allow for the epitome platform for battery integration. It also allows for the best application to maximize interior passenger space, creating endless possibilities of ideas. In his latest Vangler design sketches, the van-bodied Jeep showcases how it could be upfitted for off-road use.

Samirs Customs might be onto something and we think Jeep should take note of such a vehicle. It leaves the question of what do all of you think? Let us know in the MoparInsiders.com forums.
