It’s hard to believe that is has been two years since that a group of crowdfunded Viper enthusiasts, challenged the world at the infamous “Green Hell” known as the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It feels just like yesterday, that the record-attempt run video was released and I was glued to my monitor screen, watching Dominic Farnbacher and Lance Arnold taking Dodge’s legendary sports car around the ‘Ring doing what Dodge wouldn’t. Ah, what a great memory.
Keeping that in mind, the first Barrett-Jackson auction of the year is coming up soon and, judging from the auction list, it seems like it’s snake week in Scottsdale. Now, we have already talked about one of those special Vipers crossing the auction block this weekend, but there are a few others as well. Of those many Vipers, one of them is the first (as in serial number #001) Viper GTS-R Nurburgring Edition! Which, for those of you who don’t know, basically adds the “livery” (stickers) from the actual record attempt cars.
According to Barrett-Jackson’s website, it’s lot 1362, doesn’t have a reserve, and only has 7 miles, which they state were test and delivery miles. To sum up, a big V10 engine, very limited ACR-E/GTS-R trim, Serial Number #001, Nurburgring Special Edition, and low miles. It’s tough to say what it’ll go for, but I’d be incredibly surprised if it didn’t pass $170,000 USD.
Until then, I’m just going to continue gawking at all 22 Vipers and wish I had enough disposable income to afford even just one of those Vipers.
