At the debut of the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty lineup back in January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the Ram Truck brand announced that their updated Heavy Duty trucks would offer a “Trailer Aux Camera” system. This auxiliary exterior camera system improves visibility with custom positioning in and behind trailers. Our sister site HDRams.com has been getting a lot of e-mail asking from our readers and HDRams forum members of when will the system be available and we are happy to say, that the new system is available through Mopar.
The new Trailer Aux Camera kit connects seamlessly to trucks with the “Trailer Aux Camera Prep” option (sales code XFQ). The prep option has a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $395. For those who already have a 2019 Ram Heavy Duty without the prep kit, it can be purchased at your local Ram Truck dealer, if the option was not selected at the time the vehicle was ordered. The Mopar part number for the prep kit is 82215833AB.
The prep kit is available for trucks with the 8.4-inch and 12-inch Uconnect systems. It also includes a 12-pin connector located on the rear bumper for the camera to connect to.
As for the actual Trailer Aux Camera kit, it is also available through Mopar for an MSRP of $495. The camera kit carries the Mopar part number of 82215770AB.
The Trailer Aux Camera kit, along with the 360-degree surround-view camera, and the cargo-view camera allows owners more ways than ever before to make sure their cargo and trailers are secure and easier to maneuver.
