Tony Stewart Racing Prepares For NHRA Sonoma Nationals

Hagan Looks To Gain Momentum On Points Leader...

The DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals is set to light up Sonoma Raceway this weekend, July 26-28, as part of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ Western Swing. This year’s event will see Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan representing Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) in the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories

Tony Stewart, the rookie driver in Top Fuel, will be piloting the Rinnai Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster. This will be Stewart’s 12th Top Fuel start and his first at Sonoma Raceway. His current position is ninth in the standings, 407 points behind leader Doug Kalitta.

Stewart reflects on the upcoming race, stating, “Sonoma is one of my favorite tracks. I made a lot of starts there in NASCAR and was able to collect a few wins. It would be really neat to be able to win on both the road course and the drag strip.”

Rinnai America Corporation, a major player in gas appliances and Stewart’s primary sponsor has a reputation for quality and innovation. Through its advanced technology, it aims to promote a healthier way of life.

Driving the Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage (JHG) Dodge//SRT HELLCAT Funny Car, Matt Hagan aims for his first victory in Sonoma. Hagan, currently tied for second in the Funny Car standings, has advanced to the finals three times in his career at this track but has yet to win.

Hagan shared his thoughts, saying, “Sonoma is one I still have to check off the list, so we’ll keep working on our combination and see what we can do. It would be a special race to bring home the Wally for Jason [Johnson] and Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage.”

JHG, Hagan’s sponsor, is a vibrant organization focused on preserving the automotive culture. Founded by Jason Johnson, who hails from the Vacaville area, JHG spans a wide range of classic and high-performance vehicles.

The event also features special autograph sessions with Stewart, Hagan, and Leah Pruett today. Pruett will present a scholarship to Tyler Ward, a promising young drag racer.

The DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals promises an exciting weekend of racing as Stewart and Hagan aim to make their mark at Sonoma Raceway. Fans can follow all the action live on NHRA.TV and FOX networks.
