AUCTION: 5K-Mile 2006 Dodge Charger R/T with Road/Track Performance Group

NO RESERVE Set On This Beautiful Four-Door HEMI...

The 2006 Dodge Charger R/T had all the markings to make a new legend. Marking the return of the Charger nameplate for the modern-day in an aggressive four-door sedan, the 2006 Charger offered Dodge fans its first full-size, big horsepower, rear-wheel drive car since the muscle car era.

Fast forward 17 years and the Charger continues to make a name for itself with HEMI power under the hood. While the 2023 Dodge Charger R/T may look, feel, and drive a lot different than the 2006 model, the common foundation is still there. So with the 2023 model year being the last year for the current-gen, people are eager to grab a piece of the current HEMI era before it disappears. Unfortunately, it continues to get harder and harder, as inflation, dealer markups, and interest rates continue to climb.

And while a new HEMI-powered Charger might be out of reach for some, we spotted this stunning Brilliant Black 2006 Dodge Charger R/T with only 5,090 miles on the odometer. Best of yet, it has NO RESERVE.

When breaking into the marketplace in 2006, the starting price for the Dodge Charger R/T was $30,030. Now, that number is almost $43,000. But most of the car’s formula remains the same.

Under the hood is the 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 delivering 340 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Compared to today’s car, its a difference of 30 horsepower and 5 lb.-ft. of torque. The HEMI was mated to a Mercedes-sourced 5-speed automatic transmission, a transmission that was continued to be used in the Dodge Charger Pursuit HEMI AWD until just a few years ago. The 5-speed came with the AutoStick feature which allowed the driver fully-automatic or manual shift operation.

This particular car features the Road/Track Performance Group. That means this R/T got an additional 10 horsepower and 10 lb.-ft. of torque, thanks to a modified exhaust from the factory. The package also meant that this car wears larger anti-roll bars than the standard R/T (30 mm / front and 15 mm / rear versus 27 mm / front and 14 mm / rear).

Inside, you get the typical DaimlerChrysler era cheap and hard plastics, but from past experience they can take a far better beating from everyday use than most of today’s materials. There is just something simplistic when looking at the interior of a 2006 to 2007 Dodge Charger, it almost makes the car feel more muscle car-like.

Overall this car looks to be in good shape. The Carfax report did cite some minor front end damage that happened last year, but the front of the car looks clean in the photos.

Nevertheless, this ultra-low mile Charger R/T would be a great car for those who want a key piece of that modern-HEMI Charger muscle but are on a limited budget.
