The Jeep® J6 Honcho Returns With a Modern Kick

Classic Honcho Style Meets Modern Jeep Grit at Moab

Every year, Jeep® uses the Easter Jeep® Safari (EJS) in Moab, Utah, to unleash a fresh batch of concept vehicles that blend imagination, capability, and a whole lot of off-road attitude. For the 59th annual running of the event, Jeep rolled out seven new builds—and one that really caught our eye is the 2025 Jeep J6 Honcho Concept.

Now, let’s be real. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it should. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the J6 badge at EJS. Back in 2019, Jeep showed off a two-door Gladiator-style concept with serious classic vibes. The 2025 J6 Honcho Concept brings that idea full circle—and this time, it looks a whole lot closer to production-ready.

Built off a four-door Wrangler Unlimited platform, Jeep has chopped it down and reimagined it as a two-door pickup with a six-foot bed—longer than the five-foot box found on a standard Gladiator. The wheelbase stays the same at 118.4 inches, but the look is all old-school Honcho, inspired by the late-1970s special-edition Jeep pickups. You’ve got bold side graphics, a retro-themed paint job, and just enough attitude to make your local trailhead blush.

And yet, this concept is listed under the “accessory” category. Which raises the question: what exactly are they trying to sell us?

Sure, there are some off-the-shelf Mopar goodies like the 2-inch lift kit, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. The triple-hoop front bumper guard comes with four five-inch TYRI LED lights and a Warn winch. There’s also a slick custom roll bar out back with six TYRI lights (two pointed rearward), a beefy spare tire carrier, and rugged rock rails. But some parts are definitely more concept than catalog—like the wide rear fenders, bed panels, and tailgate setup.

Still, the overall finish is way more polished than the 2019 J6. This one looks—and feels—like it could roll off the line tomorrow if Jeep gave it the green light. And it should. The J6 Honcho fills a space that’s currently empty in the Jeep lineup: a short-wheelbase, two-door pickup that’s all about play and performance.

It’s functional. It’s cool. And it’s got just enough of that old-school Americana spirit that we can’t help but chant “build it” under our breath. So while we might still be scratching our heads at the “accessory” label, one thing’s for sure—the J6 Honcho deserves more than just a Moab cameo.
