On its way to closing its first full year of sales, the Jeep® Commander (H1) is the leader among D-segment (midsize) SUVs in the Brazilian market. The three-row model stands out for raising the level of sophistication of the brand’s national range and for being the first Jeep designed and developed in Brazil. It also is responsible for leading its segment with an impressive 35% share and its sales continue to rise month after month.
In the first half of November, Commander had already sold 1,180 units and 18,833 units sold for 2022 in Brazil. An absolute success for the American adventure brand, the Commander has broke market share records this year. Looking at October sales, the Commander took 46.5% of the segment shares, almost half of the entire segment, and a record for the model.
The Commander is based on the popular Jeep Compass’ Small-Wide 4×4 architecture. This allows the same on- and off-road capability we have liked from the Compass into a bigger three-row model. The Brazilian-built Commander is also exported to several countries in Latin America, which also have been accumulating great sales results in those markets.
Another version of the Commander is built in India, under the Meridian (H6) name.
Commander has already won several important awards. The most recent of them, which shows all the commercial power of the model, the Commander secured the Seal of Greater Resale Value – Autos, in the “Large SUV” category, from Agência Autoinforme, in partnership with Textofinal de Comunicação. Another outstanding achievement of the model was its nomination as “Premium Car of the Year” by Autoesporte magazine, in 2021.
For 2023, Commander has brought even more technology and protection to the playing field. Thanks to the new “Jeep Healthy Cabin” package, a technology that removes particles with impurities from the air and eliminates impurities by up to 83%.
Overland gasoline and diesel models will get 19-inch Pirelli tires that are equipped with SEAL INSIDE™ technology. According to the manufacturer, this is a convenient solution that seals the tire internally, allowing the vehicle to continue running even with perforations of up to 5mm (.2 inches) located in the tread without losing pressure.
