The 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee Is The Charger 1320 Fans Have Been Waiting For!
The Four-Door "1320" Has Arrived, But Its Only For A Limited Few...
Yesterday’s announcement of the 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee has a lot of Charger enthusiasts excited, judging by the response we received on our social media accounts. Essentially a four-door version of the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 first introduced in 2019, the new limited edition drag-racing-oriented package is the exact vehicle that those enthusiasts have been asking for.
Adopting the “Angry Bee” logo from the Scat Pack 1320, the Super Bee also gains most of its content. However, Dodge did throw a curve ball into the mix with the introduction of a Widebody version, which will wear wheels and tires from the Challenger SRT Super Stock to allow for even more rubber contact to the ground.
Under the hood, the 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) SRT HEMI V8 remains untouched, delivering 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. In Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 form, the 392 HEMI is capable of propelling the two-door coupe to a 1/4-mile elapsed time (E.T.) of 11.70 seconds @ 115 mph in showroom-stock form, making it the fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available. We expect the non-Widebody Super Bee to be a few ticks slower, due to its added weight.
What is interesting to us, is the absence of the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320’s TransBrake. The TransBrake locks the output shaft of the automatic transmission to hold the car stationary before a standing start. In 2019, we were among the first to purchase an R/T Scat Pack 1320 and noticed at the track that the car would perform better without the TransBrake in most situations. So it didn’t shock us when Dodge introduced the SRT Super Stock in 2020 without it, and again now with the Super Bee.
The Super Bee also benefits from R/T Scat Pack 1320’s SRT-tuned three-mode Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) and Drag Mode feature, which when engaged, optimizes weight transfer to the rear for best launch traction.

Sadly, only 1,000 units of these amazing machines will be produced (500 units of B5 Blue standard bodies/500 units of Plum Crazy Widebody models). For those looking to order one, you can’t! Dodge will build the cars and ship them to various dealers worthy of their sales numbers. Dodge will tell us at a later time where each car will be, allowing customers to try to snatch one up before they are gone.
However, nothing has been said that certain dealers will play games and try to charge a premium for the cars when they get them. So let’s hope that won’t happen for most of those out there looking to purchase one.
Our biggest gripe is that Dodge should have brought this car to market in 2020!
