The 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee Has Arrived On Dealer Lots!

The Four-Door 1320, We've Been Waiting For...

The 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee has begun to arrive at dealers. Essentially a four-door version of the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 first introduced in 2019, the new limited edition drag-racing-oriented package is the exact vehicle those enthusiasts have been asking for.

The special edition “Last Call” model will see a production run of only 1,000 units. Of those 1,000 units, 500 Charger Scat Pack (in B5 Blue) and 500 Charger Scat Pack Widebody (in Plum Crazy) are planned for production.

Adopting the “Angry Bee” logo from the Scat Pack 1320, the Super Bee also gains most of its content. However, Dodge did throw a curve ball into the mix by introducing a Widebody version, which will wear wheels and tires from the Challenger SRT Super Stock to allow for even more rubber contact to the ground.

Under the hood, the 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) SRT HEMI V8 remains untouched, delivering 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. In Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 form, the 392 HEMI can propel the two-door coupe to a 1/4-mile elapsed time (E.T.) of 11.70 seconds @ 115 mph in showroom-stock form, making it the fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available. However, due to its added weight, we expect the non-Widebody Super Bee to be a few ticks slower.

What is interesting to us is the absence of the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320’s TransBrake. The TransBrake locks the output shaft of the automatic transmission to hold the car stationary before a standing start. In 2019, we were among the first to purchase an R/T Scat Pack 1320 and noticed at the track that the car would perform better without the TransBrake in most situations. So it didn’t shock us when Dodge introduced the SRT Super Stock in 2020 without it, and again now with the Super Bee.

The Super Bee also benefits from R/T Scat Pack 1320’s SRT-tuned three-mode Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) and Drag Mode feature, when engaged, optimizes weight transfer to the rear for best launch traction.
