Back in August, MoparInsiders.com posted a series of photos of the then-upcoming 5-passenger 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (WL74) prior to its unveiling in late September. One thing that really stood out and shocked us was an interior shot of Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve. It showed the Summit Reserve having the same 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 passenger side screen as the all-new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models.
Released earlier in the year, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L (WL75) showed no sign that the passenger-side screen would be available. We theorized that Jeep might have wanted to keep it exclusive to the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models, as they are the brand’s flagship three-row offerings.
Well, that turns out not to be the case as Jeep has just made the passenger screen optional on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited, Overland, and Summit models. The passenger screen carries the option code of (RJA) and has a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,095 USD.
The 10.25-inch passenger screen has four major functions: Co-Pilot (navigation, device management), entertainment (via HDMI or Rear Seat Entertainment control), Fire TV for Auto, and the ability to view the exterior vehicle cameras. The passenger screen features an HDMI plug, which lets occupants connect their phone or tablet, turning the touchscreen into a mirrored extension of their device, allowing internet searches, music, and app use to project through the Uconnect 5 system.
We just spent a week with the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland 4×4 and found it to be a very practical, refined, and luxurious vehicle. It’s nice to see that Jeep is expanding new technology throughout the lineup and not just reserving its most expensive models. You can see the full video below.
