Ram Introduces Tradesman HFE EcoDiesel With 33 MPG Highway Rating:

Unsurpassed MPG, 12,560 Lbs Of Towing, & Under $43K USD...

Back in 2015, the RAM brand introduced the Ram 1500 HFE or “High Fuel Efficiency” model. Based on the Tradesman Quad Cab 4×2 with the 6-foot, 4-inch box and powered by the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, the original HFE models created the ultimate fuel-efficient full-size truck capable of an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certified 29 MPG highway. A pretty bold statement then.

Fast forward to the introduction of the fifth-generation Ram 1500, the HFE model returned on Tradesman models with the Quad Cab 4×2 with the 6-foot, 4-inch box configuration. However, Ram decided to equip the HFE with the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with eTorque. The combination is good for an EPA estimated 20 MPG City, 26 MPG Highway, and 23 MPG Combined. The result was a package that wasn’t as efficient as its predecessor and fell short of the standard EcoDiesel offerings.

Well RAM is about to change that with the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 Tradesman HFE EcoDiesel. This time the HFE is based on the popular Crew Cab configuration of the entry-level Tradesman. Offered only in 4×2 configuration with a 5-foot, 7-inch box, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 allows the big Ram 1500 to achieve an unsurpassed 23 MPG City, 33 MPG Highway, and 26 MPG Combined.

“Ram is committed to innovation and powertrain leadership, and as the no-compromise benchmark for efficiency and performance, we continue to listen to customer input by offering unsurpassed fuel economy,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand Chief Executive Officer. “The Ram 1500 is America’s most powerful half-ton diesel pickup with 480 lb.-ft. of torque and the most capable light-duty diesel with towing capability up to 12,560 pounds, and delivers up to 1,000 miles of range on a single tank of fuel.”
