Challenger Demon vs Challenger Hellcat drag race

Just how big of a difference is there in the real world?

Within the last 2 weeks a YouTube video has started making the rounds of a stock Challenger Demon vs a stock Challenger HELLCAT drag racing. The video posted by YouTube channel Wheels shows the Billet Silver HELLCAT going up agains the Granite Crystal Demon at Mission Raceway park located about an hour east of Vancouver British Columbia, Canada.

Mission Raceway Park has an NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile strip as well as road course and a motocross track. Sitting 25 feet above sea level and typically with low DA’s Mission Raceway generally produces good 1/4 mile times and regularly attracts racers from Alberta and being 20 minutes from the border also attracts a lot of racers up from Washington State.

Both cars were running drag radials while the Demon had its front skinnies on as well. It is unknown whether the Demon was running the race gas tune or not but we have been told that both cars were stock. This run was during one of the Friday night street legal events where anyone can show up, register and race their car. While track prep is generally pretty good during the street legal events it isn’t up the the track prep of an actual race event. Both drivers seem to be pretty evenly matched but at the end of the day the Demon walks away running a 10.07@133MPH to the HELLCATs 11.09@124MPH. While a pretty impressive run for both cars, the Demon should still have a lot in it go get down to its 9.65 certified 1/4 mile time with the HELLCAT only being 2 tenths of a second away from its certified 10.8 1/4 mile time.

Stay tuned to Mopar Insiders as this is my local track and I will be out there this season and keeping an eye on the new Demon. Make sure you check out our Forums section and join in on the conversation.
