Jeep® Introduces New Wrangler Low Down Concept For EJS2024

Rubicon 392-Based Concept Wears Massive 42-Inch BFGoodrich Krawlers...

The annual Easter Jeep® Safari in Moab, Utah, has always been a platform for Jeep® to showcase its innovation and off-road capabilities. This year, Jeep, along with Mopar’s Jeep® Performance Parts (JPP) brand, unveiled the highly anticipated Low Down concept, paying homage to the iconic Jeep Wrangler (JK) Lower 40 Concept from fifteen years ago.

Drawing inspiration from its predecessor, the Low Down Concept brings forth a blend of heritage and modern engineering. The standout feature of this concept is its ability to accommodate massive 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler Mud-Terrain tires mounted on 20-inch beadlock wheels, a nod to the adventurous spirit of off-roading enthusiasts.

Despite the imposing size of the tires, clever clearance work ensures that the center of gravity remains low, enhancing stability while navigating challenging terrains. The stock Wrangler Rubicon 392 suspension remains intact, supplemented by Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gears for enhanced durability and off-road performance.

In terms of aesthetics, the Low Down Concept exudes a commanding presence with its streamlined body coated in striking Poison Apple Red paint. Notable design elements include the removal of rear door handles, a custom carbon hood with a transparent power dome, and a race-style fuel filler door for added flair.

Inside the cabin, the focus is on functionality and comfort. Custom black leather seats with cloth inserts provide a luxurious yet durable seating option, while Rhino-lined floors ensure easy cleanup after off-road adventures. The instrument panel features a radio-delete design for a minimalist aesthetic, while a purpose-built, red-tinted bikini top adds a touch of warmth to the interior ambiance.

Under the hood lies the heart of the Low Down Concept: the formidable 475-horsepower 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI® SRT V8 engine, delivering prodigious power and torque for exhilarating performance on and off the beaten path. Paired with an 8-speed ZF-sourced 8HP75 automatic transmission, the Low Down Concept offers seamless power delivery and precise control in any driving scenario.

Overall, the Jeep Low Down Concept represents a fusion of iconic design and cutting-edge technology, showcasing Jeep’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of off-road excellence. It also marks a sad farewell to the 392 HEMI® under the hood of the current Wrangler.
